"It is better to inform your insurance company because of a speeding ticket since..."

It is better to inform your insurance company because of a speeding ticket since, the speeding ticket will ultimately go into the record, and your insurance company will later come to know about it. Hence, it does not matter if you inform your insurance company or not. Tedd Doubtson

Q. Does my insurance go up after i get a ticket in someone else car? or the owner of the car insurance goes up?
i got pulled over for speeding and the officer never asked for the insurance card. since he didn't ask for the insurance card, does that mean my pay rate will be the same? or can the insurance company find out by the tag number? please inform me because this is my first time. thanks! also remember i was in someone else car.

"I asked her why my insurance never went up with state farm..."

I was pulled over for speeding & I was so worried my insurance would go up but it never did. I wanted to switch from State Farm to Allstate & when I called Allstate to get a quote it was outrageous. I asked why it would be so much and the woman I spoke with told me it was because of the ticket I received. I asked her why my insurance never went up with State Farm and she told me as long as I pay my insurance on time & my policy was never dropped State Farm wouldn't find out because they would have no reason to check for tickets since when I signed up for my policy I wasn't considered high risk. It's been 2 years since I got my ticket & my insurance has stayed the same. You will be fine.

Q. Beating a radar speeding ticket?
i was photographed by a radar van while speeding by like 8 mph. can i get out of paying it without paying the fine? i read somewhere that i can toss it without paying and that nothing will happen? will my insurance company be informed? any ideas how i can get out of this one? 8 mph....seriously...?

"Then you'll get a contempt charge on top of the speeding violation..."

Don't toss it, then you'll get a contempt charge on top of the speeding violation. If you pay it, then you plead guilty. If you at least go to court, you might be able to politely ask the judge to reduce it so there are no points. Not sure what the point system is like in your state, 8 mph may not have points. But the likelihood of going ot court, and demaning all those related documents, and the officer not having them are slim. I keep all of my RADAR logs, and training paperwork, as well as copies of the RADAR cetrifications and calibrations in a three ring binder that I take to every court case involving speed. Also, the whole truck issue the other poster mentioend doesnt work if the officer had a good visual tracking history. Which means if he can see you and the other vehicles, and he can see you accelrrating past the otehr vehicles, and his RADAR unit confirms what he sees, you are screwed. Your best bet, politely ask the judge to reduce it, or make it a lighter charge if you have no previous infractions or speeding history.

Q. Will my insurance company try to cancel my policy?
i was involved in a car accident that was not my fault. however, the police informed me that my license were suspended at the time because i had missed traffic school (for a speeding ticket) four days before. the police went on to say that i had no way of knowing about the suspension because the letter hadn't been mailed yet and that i can get the citation thrown out in court on tuesday. i have to turn the accident in on my insurance because of a back injury i suffered during the wreck. will the suspended license, even if it is thrown out in court in a few days, affect my insurance policy?

"Your insurance won't even know about it..."

If it's thrown out of court, your insurance won't even know about it. Generally if your insurance is going to cancel you, they will wait until renewal time and decline to renew you rather than cancel and have to refund monies. Of course, if they find out you were driving on a suspended license they may want to refuse coverage, so best hope it is thrown out.

Q. If i research insurance quotes will my current provider be informed?
i have two speeding tickets on my record that i would rather not have flagged for my insurance company, as they have not audited me yet for it.... but i want to look up quotes on motorcycle insurance! will my insurance provider be notified if i start looking for motorcycle insurance on otherwebsites like gieko and progressive? im just looking for ballpark estimates.... not looking for a set rate

"Your insurance company will probably discover your speeding..."

Your current insurance will not be informed that you are researching other insurance quotes and/or discover your speeding tickets from that process. Your insurance company will probably discover your speeding tickets about 60 days before your renewal (most insurance companies do this). If you are currently insured by a standard company, it is very likely that your insurance will be cancelled at that time or you will at least have a large rate increase. In terms of some of the other comments regarding credit, neither of the comments are correct. Insurance companies pull what is called an insurance score which is a numerical formula based on your credit. However, it is not a credit report. The insurance company does not use this to determine if you are insurance "worthy" or to determine your payment plan. According to actuarial science the better insurance scores translate to the better risks and the more impaired scores translate into higher risk profiles. Stated another way--on average clients who have impaired insurance scores produce more claims. Therefore the insurance companies use the insurance scores as one of the factors (other factors would be your driving record, accident record, mileage, type of car, etc.) that allow them to adequately price the risk to produce a profit. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Q. Churchill car insurance problem?
had accident which was my fault in nov 08, hit a van in rear that stopped suddenly going through a roundabout (less than 5mph) and his trailer hitch ball went into my radiator and damaged the hood, grill and radiator. car was 1996 honda in very reasonable condition, mot'd and all in good service despite its 125,000 mileage, new tyres, exhaust, battery, and clean throughout. had fully comprehensive insurance with £50 deductable, loaner car and legal support so paid to be protected. when car was collected from accident, collecting garage said at that time that due to the mileage my car would not be repaired. however it took 5 to 6 weeks for the insurance examiner to determine that my car was beyond repair, so i did without a car all that time. despite repeated phone calls to them, they never called me back as their examiner was on holiday. then when we finally agree that a price of £500 for my car in january 08 and that took some haggling, the cheque never and so i started chasing them down in early february. i am then informed that i did not disclose a speeding violation on my application and they would have to listen to the tapes of my applying to verify this. again this took several weeks, and i again had to pursue them for an answer to which they then said i had applied on the internet so no record of a phone conversation. the internet application was misleading, asking for what i believed was 3 years worth of offenses. i've only ever had 2 speeding offenses in my entire life - both speed cameras, just over the limit. the first was at 6 a.m. and i passed a bus pulling over to stop and as i passed it got flashed. the second on the day i found my dad had days to live and i was rushing to catch a flight, and as in both instances was doing 42 mph in a 30 mph zone for a very short period. nonetheless, i was speeding and paid my fines. i wrote to the insurance company and apologised for not telling them of the other speeding ticket from 4 years and 9 months earlier as i forgot about it. but i admitted it, and apologised in writing. then then came back to me saying that there would be additional premium to pay before i would get paid for my car. well, its october 08, and i finally got a letter from the insurers saying they are not paying me as i failed to pay the additional premium requested and they were not going to renew my policy. i have never been asked even after repeated letters to them how much the additional premium was, and what i should do. no replies. i have asked for my car back which they agreed to pay for, and now they state there is nothing they can do, and it is their final decision. i went to the financial ombudsman and unbelieveably did not get a reply from them. i've even spoken to one of their "survey" staff who tells me that they are incredibly busy and it was probably put aside and not dealt with. i'm at a total loss as to where i stand and how to pursue this without spending more than the accident and car was worth. i've written to their data protection officer and obtained copies of all documentation pertaining to this, so by their records can verify all this information quite clearly. finally, i maintained my cool with them at all times. never once did i raise my voice or become unprofessional with them. my questions are: 1. can i legally request my car back as it has never been paid for? 2. were they taking money for policy on a car they knew that through mileage alone, they would never pay for loaner car, or to have repaired? 3. this has meant over 30 letters and more phone calls than that to deal with, and rarely do they call you back or reply at all. can i claim for this time and distress? 4. am i totally wasting my time? regards, papa don

"Insurance companies can..."

I'm afraid you've discovered what the world of motor insurance is like, and the cheaper you go the worse it is in handling claims. Insurance companies can, and do, abide strictly by the contract you have with them, which incorporates your application. One of the conditions is (and it's very clear, I've just looked) that you disclose "Details and approximate dates of driving convictions in the last 5 years for all drivers". Whether you genuinely made a mistake or not, what you declare is what you declare and they've managed to seize on this as a way out. They would say that you made a false declaration and that doing so invalidates your insurance. You are of course entitled to the remains of your car back.

Q. Insurance company said i'm 100% at fault for car accident so i have to pay all damages what can i do?
i was in a car accident and found out that my insurance company had not informed me that my coverage had lapsed. they wont cover the accident. i was turning left in residential area speed limit was 25. was going 5mph he had to be going atleadt 35 to thorw my car onto the side walk. my car is wrecked and now his insurance company is saying im 100% at fault and i have to pay all his damages. i know im 55-70 percent at fault and i should only be required to pay the percent of the total. i cannot afford to pay that amount and i was told by some attorneys to take it to court and to work with the judge to get the price reduced? both tickets were dropped in court and im just wondering if i should just set up a payment plan or take it to court and try to get it reduced?? any help would be great. yea thats what they said, but i didnt receive any mail from them for about 3 months and i had been calling and speaking with my agent about an issue i was having and he didnt mention it at all. in fact i talked to him the week before the accident and he said nothing. that issue is a dead horse and the real issue im dealing with now is the fact that im being blamed as 100% at fault when i should only be about55-70% which would make what i owe alot less. its about 2000 and since im in the process of fixing my own car thats a lot of money. just want to know if telling them to piss off and deal with them in court would help my chaces of getting a reduced amount or just to suck it up and make payments. ok, maybe i didnt make it clear enough i saw him coming but he was at a fair distance away. i started to turn and saw him slam on his brakes as he slid into me. i was half way into the intersection when he saw me and tried to turn right and hit my passanger side wheel well. i was going 4 mph and had my turn signal on 30 to 40 feet prior to the turn so he had ample time to see that i was turning. my best estimate that he wasnt paying attention and by the time i was half way into the intersection he saw me and couldnt avoid the accident. im from il and the law states that the accident is based on a percent of at fault and i feel that had he been going the speed limit he would have been able to avoid the accident.

"Did your insurance have your right address..."

Why do you think you aren't 100% at fault? It doesn't matter what speed the vehicle you cut off by turning left in front of them when the way wasn't clear to do so was traveling. You should not have turned left until the way the clear. An accident is a pretty good indicator the way was not clear, therefore you have 100% of the fault. If you talked to attorneys and they had suggestions, try what they suggested if you want. But bottom line is this: You are responsible for the other party's damage. Did your insurance have your right address? Even if they didn't notify you, most people can read an expiration date on a policy or have some idea of when a payment would be due.

Q. Old tickets, suspended license, help!?
when i was a new driver at 16/17, i got two tickets. one was a photo speed ticket, and one was for driving without proof of insurance. i did have insurance, i just didn't have proof in the car because my parents had never given me the card. i gave both tickets to my parents when i got them, assuming that they would take care of them. irresponsible, i know, but i was young and immature and my parents had always paid for/handled most problems for me. anyway, fast forward 3 1/2 years later to january of '10 and i get pulled over for the first time since i was 17, only to discover that my license is suspended. now my car has been impounded for 30 days and i can only get it out if my license has been reinstated by then. i called the motor vehicle division to see why it was suspended and what i needed to do to fix this mess and i was informed that i have 2 unpaid tickets from when i was underage. with both tickets, insurance, and the reinstatement fee, i have to pay over $1200 just to get my license back. then another $800 - $900 to get my car out of the impound. i don't know how i'm going to be able to pay for everything within 30 days! i am a full time mother, my husband works so that i can stay home with our son. he makes enough to support us but we can't afford to pay over $2000 dollars. now i can't even get a temporary job to pay the fines because i don't have a vehicle or a valid license. i have no idea what to do... is there any type of company who helps people with legal fines? is there any way i can fight the case seeing as i was underage, i did have insurance, and i was never notified of my license being suspended? is it even possible to fight old tickets? also, are parents legally responsible for their children/teen's tickets? just wondering if i could use this point to have the charges dropped. thanks in advance. i was just asking for advice, i don't deserve to be insulted. dusty, i just reported you. a little advice; try using proper puntuation and spelling before calling somebody a moron next time. ;)
