May i use any other cartridge instead of 810 for pixma 287?

I have canon pixma MP287 printer. It is very costly to print by catridge 810 which cost about 900 to 1000. can I use any other cartridge which is compatible and somewhat cheap than this.? any other like of HP? if so, then plz name it

I think your question was can you print black documents out using color cartridge only. I had this problem when I ran out of black and couldn`t go get a replacement, and the answer is "yes, sort of." Go to My Printer, Maintenance Tab, choose Ink Cartridges. From there you choose "Color Cartridge ONLY". From then on, until you change it back, everything you print will only use the color cartridge. A black and white document will print out and be very readable and ALMOST black print, be able to be copied, etc., but it will be actually a very dark blue.

YOU CAN PRINT WITH THIS PRINTER...all you need to do is press the reset button for 10 seconds ( the one with the upside down triangle) print print something. when it tells you to replace the cartridge press the red triangle button for 10 seconds and it wIll resume printing,,,( beware when you do this you cannot monitor the ink levels you`ll have to keep your on the prints.....DO NOT LET THE CARTRIDGES RUN DRY THIS WILL SHORTEN THERE LIFE IF NOT KILL THEM )

why does my color ink run out at same time as black? I DO BLACK AND WHITE COPIES MOSTLY.

If it does not print black without having a color cartridge present - I can only assume it was greed motivated designed to force you purchase a color cartridge at Kodak,s designated time, and not the consumers time of choosing. This is what happens when greed takes over decision makers rational - The C E O of Kodak was paid 10.2 million in 2009 and Im sure his top avaricious court jesters were back stabbing each other for a larger slice of the pie - moral of the story is don,t buy a Kodak pie, if enough consumers purchased other more fairly divided pies , eventually Kodak would learn a second lesson as they did a few years ago when they lost a great percentage of market share. just print as normal, when the printer says you`ve run out of a colored ink, just hold the stop/rest button on the printer for 5 seconds, it should force the print to black and white.

I have the same problem. I have to change my black ink and color ink at the same time. If I replace only the black ink it will not print even if I ask to print in black and white only. It keeps asking to change the color ink and I can`t print anything. I am really disappointed with Kodak, there should be a way to bypass this - logically asking to print in black and white should bypass this problem, but it doesn`t. Anyone know which printer I can buy from another company that would bypass this problem?
