 Q. Have you gone on the whirlpool wet jet boat ride in niagara falls? i live about 30 minutes from niagara falls and i've never been on it.
my godfather is in town and i asked him if he'd want to go on it and he said he'd love to so now we have a group of about 10 of us going on saturday morning.
i'm just wondering for anyone that has been on it, if you liked it.
was it fun?
was it a bit scary?
how wet did you get?
You are going to love it!
The Jet boat actually launches out of Niagara on the Lake and makes it's way up the river through the rapids and into the whirlpool.
Unless you opt in for the closed in boat which keeps passengers dry you are going to get completely soaked... But it's worth every bit of it.
The ride can be a bit scary but I would say it's more thrilling than anything else.
Let me know what you thought of it.
Check out the link below to get more information on the jet boat and where it is located.

 Q. Can i view the niagara falls from u.s like use the boat to see? cuz i can't go to canada due to visa problems i am an immigrant and lives in detroit and can't go to canada because of visa problems. i really want to see the niagara falls, but someone said i need to go to canada to see it. is there anyway i can view it from the u.s? i want to take the boat rides and everything too.
I was there 3 days ago so my answer should be pretty accurate.
Maid of the Mist ride (the boat which takes you to the falls) runs both on Canadian side and American side. You do not have to cross border to experience the Maid of the Mist boat ride.
Niagara falls can be viewed from both the American and Canadian side but you will have slightly different views depending on the side you are on.
From the American side you have a better view of the waters going over the falls...however Canadian side have the better view of the entire look of the falls. However, it is a spectacular view regardless of which side you are on.
Have fun!

 Q. Im going to niagara falls(from) buffalo, ny and take the boat or w.e and c the lights-do i need a visa? i really wanted to go soon, so, if i need a visa, can i get it while im there? also can i even take a boat ride from buffalo, ny?
If you are an American citizen you do not need a visa to enter Canada but you do need a passport. You cannot take a boat from Buffalo to Niagara Falls if that is what you mean.

 Q. Where is the best place to stay in niagara falls, ontario, and what are the things to do while there? i am searching for a nice, affordable hotel in niagara falls, on. i know we will be viewing the falls, on both the usa side and canadian side, and taking the mist boat ride.
Last year I stayed at the Rodeway Inn Fallsview on Stanley Avenue (Ontario side) in mid-September. It was right across the street from the Minolta Tower, surrounded by restaurants both local and chain and was a short walking distance from the Fallsview Casino. It wasn't too far up the hill from the Falls either. A day pass on the incline could cut that down even further. They offer free parking, an outdoor pool and various restaurants in the area including a pizza/Italian place right across the parking lot. Pricing for me was about $65C. Finding the exact price for your party is where your research will begin.
Three additional tips about the Rodeway Inn Fallsview:
1. Make sure it's the Rodeway Inn Fallsview on Stanley Avenue since there are three Rodeway Inns in NFO and a fourth in NY. The other three are MUCH different than this location and are not recommended.
2. This location is a hybrid where they built a new section in front of an older property. I stayed in the newer section and can report a clean and well appointed room. Some reviews claim the newer section is better than the older one. However, a 4 out of 5 smile rating from Travelocity and a three diamond rating from AAA may contradict that idea. Having only stayed in the newer section, I can't confirm it, though.
3. For some unexplained reason, I found the double bed rooms here to be cheaper than the single bed rooms. Usually, it's the other way around. I had no problem being in a double bed room (especially since the room was quite large to begin with) if it meant my stay was cheaper. Since you're traveling with your family, it might actually save you some extra money at this location.

 Q. What would be the best thing to bring on a trip to niagara falls and on the maid of the mist-? i have no car but will go with a group. i know i will get wet and cant leave stuff on the bus but besides a water proof bag, what should i bring? and is the boat ride bumpy?
They'll give you a poncho to wear, which actually works quite well. Wear shorts and sandals, because the poncho only goes to about your knees (depending on your height, obviously)... this way if (when) your legs and feet get wet, they'll dry quickly :D
Other than that, just bring some cash, a camera, and an extra t-shirt in your waterproof bag!
The ride isn't really bumpy at all. It's LOTS of fun though!
Have a great trip :D

 Q. What is the best time of year to visit niagara falls? we definitely want to ride the whirlpool jet boat so probably don't want to go when its cold but i hate crowds and would love to find a time to go when it isn't crowded. we will probably have to go on a weekend though since we can't get time off work and school.
"As one idea..."
The Jet Boat is a GREAT trip. There are coupons on-line, so don't ever pay full price.
I hate to say it, but weekends when it is warm is when everyone ELSE wants to come as well.
July 4th is a very busy week.
As one idea,
The 2008 Taste of Buffalo will be held on July 12th and 13th, 2008. The Taste of Buffalo is one of the nation's largest food festivals and attracts more than 450,000 people annually to the event--and is fun by the forkful.
This means less tourists in Niagara Falls - more will be at Taste of Buffalo.

 Q. Looking for suggestions of things to do in niagara falls ny, us side only!? no crazy boat rides......maybe a nice relaxing one....i'm going for my first time along with my girlfriend (who was there for a day in the past)....i'm just looking for some nice relaxing away from the kids things to do....as a side note....where is the best place to watch the fireworks? thanks!
There is nothing on the US side except the Maid of the Mist which is the boat ride that gets really close to the bottom of the falls. There is also a casino on the US side. Other than Niagara Falls, USA is a bust.
All the views, museums, caves, and attractions are on the Canadian side. The Canadian side also has the better view of the falls.

 Q. Niagara falls? we are going to niagara falls this august. we'd like to take the kids on the maid of the mist, the observation deck, see the i-max movie, and they saw the jet boat and want to ride that too. i've looked at several local tour companies and would like to know, is it better for us just to drive to these places and plan our day ourselves or are the tours (some include these things) worth it. we will have a sunday, monday and tuesday to do our touring. oh, and one day the adults would like to tour a winery and do a wine tasting. any ideas from anyone on planning this would be appreciated.
oh, how much time should we allow for each activity?
we will actually be staying on the new york side at a koa campground, but it's close to the border and we all have passports because we like to travel!
Since you'll be in Niagara for three days, you should consider getting an Adventure Pass:
http://www.niagaraparks.com/nfgg/discountpass.php
You can save a ton of money on attractions by purchasing tickets in one package: Maid of the Mist, Journey Behind the Falls, White Water Walk, and the Butterfly Conservatory... these can be used over the three days (don't all have to be used on the same day). It also includes a People Mover pass, which takes you up and down the Niagara Parkway... save this pass for the day that you do the Butterfly Conservatory, and the White Water Walk, as these are further down the parkway. The other two attractions are within walking distance, if you stay near Clifton Hill or Fallsview Blvd. at one of the hotels.
Here is the website for the alliance of some of the best wineries in NOTL:
http://www.wineriesofniagaraonthelake.com/wineries.php
My favourites are Inniskillin and Chateau des Charmes. You'll definitely want to use a car to get to the wineries (drive 20-30 minutes), but the routes are really pretty and worth the drive. Most wineries will do guided tours for a small fee and tastings afterwards, so much fun. Just follow the links from that website to the wineries of your choice, to get more info, and make appointments if needed. The Jetboat is in Niagara on the Lake as well, so you may want to do that the same day as the wineries, to save a drive back out there.... neither will charge you for parking!
I would say allow two days to do the attractions around the falls, and one day for the wineries. Get the front desk people to help you with maps and coupons. Definitely take the kids to Clifton Hill, they'll have so much fun. The Skywheel is really neat, with great views! The Imax and Observation Deck are in the same complex on Fallsview Blvd., and shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. I would recommend either walking to the attractions, using a taxi, or taking the People Mover. Keep your car parked at the hotel as much as possible, to avoid paying for parking everywhere you go.
Have a great trip! Feel free to email me if I can help you further!

 Q. Can the vapor/drizzle from niagra falls damage my nikon d40? does vapor damage sensor/lenses??? i remember that on niagara falls there is huge amounts of vapor and drizzle coming off the falls, especially when you take a boat ride under it, can that damage my camera (d40)
what happens if sensor and lenses get vaporized???
Either buy a waterproof housing or cover for your camera or leave it safely in a waterproof camera bag.
Getting your camera wet will likely ruin it, especially if its ON when it gets wet. Water and electronic circuits are mortal enemies.
You can check the Nikon website for a waterproof case or you can look here:

 Q. Going to canada from us. need canadian money? we are going to see niagara falls tomorrow and may go to the canadian side. do we need to exchange for canadian money? i think for the boat rides and stuff, they will probably take, but what about in the town stores and stuff?
thanks
They will accept US dollars in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. The exchange rate will likely be 1 USD = 1 CAN, so not entirely favourable for Americans since the Canadian dollar is a few cents lower than the US dollar, but not really noticeable if you're only spending a few dollars here and there.
