"The specifications about how much ink can be contained in an hp..."

The specifications about how much ink can be contained in an hp cartridge 818 would have been given in the manual received with the hp 818 printer. Generally the color ink cartridge contains 5 ml ink and black ink contains 15 ml ink. Bill perry

Q. How much ml of ink should be put in hp 818 cartridge to avoid spill?
i have added 5ml to my cartridge and its flowing without any stop ......

None. If your printer is under warranty, refilling voids the warranty. If you return your printer for repair under warranty, evidence of refilling is the first thing checked for

Q. Can we refill hp 818 ink cartridges ? i have heard it does not allow refilling?

"Some hp printers retain the id of the last 5 cartridges used (black and color..."

Remove both black and color cartridges from your printer. Turn the printer on and off 5 times. In between the on and off allow twenty seconds for the machine to power down completely. When turning the printer on allow it to go through normal start up so that it realizes there are no cartridges. Some HP printers retain the ID of the last 5 cartridges used (black and color). When the printer cartridges are not present it removes the ID from the current list. After 5 times it has removed all of the IDs and therefore believes the cartridges are now new.

Q. How to refill hp-818 cartridge, normal refill of cardtridge doesn't work as printer doesn't recognises it.?
i tried to get the cartridge refill by conventional method of injecting the ink, but printer still shows cartridge as empty. new cartridges are really costly and gives very less prints. i am not finding why other hp print cartridges can be refilled but not this one.

"Will continue to register empty as the cartridge has information in the chip that..."

Your printer will not show ink levels with refills or even compatibles, but it should still print mine does. Even if you refilled the cartridges in the most proffessional way they still will continue to register empty as the cartridge has information in the chip that tells it the cartridge is empty. It's a bit like buying a cinema ticket. You use it once but after that you can't go back to see the same film without the ticket, so you have to sneak back in through the window. Although you can re watch the film you loss some advantages like being able to go to buy some snacks in the interval and being allowed back in. Your printer says you watched the film so you have to sneak back in and loss the right to go for snacks which in this case is ink level readings.

Q. What is the print capacity (in no. of pages)for hp deskjet (f4488) cartridge 818/818xl?
i would like to know actually how many a4 black & white or colour pages can i print with hp deskjet (f4488) cartridge 818/818xl. i would also like to know whether the ink will dry up if i use the printer only 3-4 times in a month ? can this cartridge be refilled (either when the ink has dried up or it has been used up )?

"Answers but you gave a cartridge number sold in india..."

This was a tough one, primarily because you asked the question in the US Y! Answers but you gave a cartridge number sold in India. I believe the 818 cartridges are known as the 60 here in the US, and yes they are refillable. Page yields are as follows: - 818 black: 200 pages from 6 ml of ink - 818XL black: 600 pages from 17 ml of ink - 818 tri-color: 165 pages from 7 ml of ink (2.33 ml of each color) - 818XL tri-color: 440 pages from 17 ml of ink (5.8 ml of each color) Note that these numbers are based on a mere 5% page coverage, you'll most likely get less.    The ink won't dry up if you only use the printer 3-4 times a month but you will most likely experience poor print quality due to clogged nozzles. You can't really see them by looking with the naked eye but your tri-color cartridge has 6 rows of nozzles, two rows for each color, with a total of 1248 nozzles on the print head. Needless to say they are quite tiny and can easily clog if the printer is left unused. The cartridge clean utility included in the software which came with the printer will usually fix this issue. Printing a test page or sample page once a week can help prevent it from happening at all.    Yes, your cartridges can be refilled. I refill the the HP 60 (the US equivalent of your 818) regularly. You want to refill it before it is empty, the worst thing you can do to a cartridge is to allow it to dry out.

Q. Hp deskjet 4200 series problem?
hi, my hp printer is great, i don't use it that often but now it won't print at all. i replaced the black ink cartridge because it was empty. when i put in the full one it said that nothing was in there, but it worked. just a few days ago the printer started acting up. both of the cartridges have ink and it says on the printer that there is none, as the black ink cartridge light is red and flashing. my computer says there is a cartridge problem. there is also an e light for error i believe. my computer is compatible and if someone can help i would gladly appreciate it! thank you so much !! additional details i also want to know whether the 818 cartridge (hp) can be refilled ??

"Did you go in the hp menu and align the new cartrdige..."

You can refill any cartrdige but only 3 times. If you do it more than that, you will damage the print head and void your warranty. For your printing problem, go here http://www.inksoutlet.com/productCategory.php?categoryID=8&manufacturerID=8 Just input your model number and other info. Before doing this, did you go in the HP menu and align the new cartrdige. If not, go int he Printer service menu and click on it. That will also fix the problem.
