Why are you fighting it? You got caught and you know it. Pay the ticket and learn the lesson.

    Q. How long does it take for car insurance to lower rates?
i have been with geico auto insurance for roughly 1year and then another approximately 4-5years. i had a break due to joining the military. at this time i receive coverages every 6 months. the problem i have with geico is that i been paying just about the same since i started and just recently my rate went down only 20 dollars. i have been in one accident with an elderly who passed a stop sign, a speeding ticket of driving 35 on a 25 and i believe two seat belt tickets. nothing in the last two years or more. what do i do to get my rates lowered without effecting the quality of coverage. when do insurance companies lower their rates?? i don't mean to bother you with my life details.but just to let you know i recently paid off a my car and received title. does the insurance stay high if the geico believes that you are still paying off the car? if assure geico that the car is 100% mine and not the loaning bank will the price go down??

"You can't change that but we'll always have a higher insurance rate than girls..."

Some of the hard facts: You're a guy. You can't change that but we'll always have a higher insurance rate than girls. You've had several moving violations, that only proves that you're risky. Avoid getting them and your rate won't go up. You've had claims, although it didn't seem to be your fault, so you're still okay with that one. It doesn't sound like you'll be changing your car anytime soon since you're a proud owner. The kind of car that you drive and color affects it too. Sportscars, luxury cars, and fast cars all have generally high rates and will not go down significantly. Some suggestions: Get a higher deductible. That means you'll pay more out of pocket if you ever cause an accident, but it means you'll be saving more in the long run when you don't get into accidents. Get married. You will actually get a lower rate if you're married or if you have children, because they assume you become less reckless. Age out of the brackets. This is probably the most difficult thing to do, but if you're above the risky age brackets, you'll get a lower rate. Check your policy. It should say that you're the lien holder on the vehicle. If it doesn't call up Geico and tell them you own the car and you might need to fax them a copy of the paperwork. Good luck lowering your rates!

    Q. Will a "seat belt violation" affect my insurance rates?
a cop pulled me over for speeding, but i started crying and instead of giving me a speeding ticket, he gave me a $25 ticket for a "seat belt violation". i was wearing my seat belt, i guess he just made that up to give me the smallest violation. i am 18 and have never had any tickets or anything before. i have geico insurance and my car is registered under my parents' name. my question is... will this affect my insurance rates, and is there any way my parents can find out? assuming i pay it on time? i live in md!

"If a single seat belt violation raised insurance rates..."

It's a strike against you. Geico would lose too much face if a single seat belt violation raised insurance rates . Your parents could find out by checking online, but the violation is not serious. The cop probably caught you off guard and sympathized. If you were speeding recklessly, he would have to punish you. Don't worry about your parents; if they're really strict, tell them it was a non-moving seat belt violation, and that you won't do it again.

    Q. Will my car insurance go up after two not at fault accidents?
in the last year i've had two accidents that resulted in my cars being written off as total losses. (in one case the other driver was drunk and speeding, in the other a teenager ran a stop sign.) in neither case was i at fault, and the other driver's insurance paid the full claims. i've never had any other accidents or tickets in the 10 years i've been driving. how likely is it that geico will put my rates up when it's time to renew?

    Yes, it is likely

    Q. Do your insurance rates always go up when you get moving violations, or does it depend on many factors?
i've been with my car insurance company geico for many yaers, about 4-5 now,and i've had a perfect record for a while too. in the last year and half largely due to health problems and anxiety, i've sped up on the ihghway, and what not and received so many tickets for speeding and one for careless driving. so now i have a total of 10 points on my license. do they increase it for every point, or do they sometimes give you breaks if you get only a few or up to a certain amount, and then ...then after a certain point...they just increase you? i tihnk at 10 i'm pretty much just...going to expect my premium to increase, but i'm not sure exactly how much it will increase, or how i can get it not to, perhaps talk to them, or what not? take some driving improvement courses, etc?

Talking to them is not going to stop your rates from going up. 10 points is a lot, I'd be surprised if they didn't cancel you the next time you're up for renewal. You've become too big of a risk. Sorry.

    Q. Are my rates gonna skyrocket?
i have always been a safe driver. i am the guy that always drives the speed limit and waits first when a light turns green (i am only 33 and not older). i haven't had an accident in 8 years since i slid on some ice. this morning i was waiting to make a left turn into work. traffic was stopped. the cars in the two lanes waves me in. i pulled in slowly, but some guy rushing on the side of the street to make a right and pushed my tribute two feet. i am surprised his airbags didn't go off. the cop came and said it was a double fault accident. the guy should not have been on the right, but i was making a left into traffic. we both have the same insurance company so i am not going to get any help from them. the "lane" he was driving in was not a lane but a shoulder.. i became a lane up ahead in about 100 ft. i called my insurance and they are faulting the accident on me. i wasn't issued a ticket or anything. how much should i expect my rates to rise. i use geico

On average, an at-fault accident will cause your rates to go up around 30% your first year after the accident. Now would be a good time to shop around.
