Adding 18 year old non-owner to car insurance.? i am now 18 years old but have not yet gotten my driver's license because of the rate increase before i turned 18. i have had my learner's permit for 3 years and have a perfect driving record (no tickets or accidents). i do not own a car right now.

A. Yes, you need to be added. Policies generally exclude children that are not specifically listed.
B. It depends on the company, but in general teens are charged 30-50% more than adults.

at the moment i know some insurance companies reduce the price if you have done something called "pass plus"
also adding a parent onto your policy can also reduce the cost (not the other way round, that's illegal if you drive it more then they do!)

Well you know the possible ways but the £1500 isnt bad ,,, Lots of youngsters are paying over £2500 up to £30000 ... dont think you will get it any cheaper

Classic insurance for 18 year olds!? im trying to buy my a family relatives 1972 mini 1.275 litre. its awesome! the problem is i cant get classic insurance any where an if i do its like 2000 pounds which i don't have. any body no any good insurers or does adding my mum and my dad help alot or not?
my mum and dad can be the main insurers but alot of the classic insurarers are a bit funny and wont allow me to be on theirs of have insurance at all. i havent ever crashed or anything

Q. My 18 year old son just got his cdl. is he covered under our auto insurance for a short time before we add him we are insured drivers but have not had a chance to add our son since he just got his license on friday (much to our suprise). if he were stopped or god forbid in an accident between now and next week is he covered under our policy? he does live at home with us.

If he is driving a commercial vehicle (CDL), then no he is absolutely not covered. If he is driving your vehicle, he should be covered, (unless you have a policy that excludes drivers under a certain age), just explain what you said here & you should be given the benefit of the doubt. The company will just add him the day he got his license & cover the accident. If he gets stopped, if a valid ID card is in the car, it shows the car is covered & that is all the police need. They never check for drivers on a policy.
Just call on Monday & add him.
