 Q. Can you get a ticket for flipping off a car when you drive passed them & it happens to be an unmarked cop? me and my brother were driving around and flipping of cars to be funny.. and one was an un marked cop car.
i had no identification so i had to write down my address and he said that when he figures out what is more appropriate for us he will send us a citation..
first off.. how ridiculous is that. hahahhahahahhahahahahaaaa
but anyway i told my brother the odds of us even getting anything in the mail are slim. (cause wouldnt he just write up a ticket while we were pulled over? and he didnt even know what to charge us with, so this "sheriff" sucks ass if he cant think on the spot of what to charge us with)
and if we get a ticket/citation would we be able to fight it and have a good chance at winning.
we live in wisconsin so idk if its different for other states. but i have 7 dollars right now so its not gong to work out for me if i have to pay for a lame ass ticket. haha
Getting a ticket is better than having pissed off someone prone to road rage. Maybe if you keep that up someone will run you off the road and beat you to death. It isn't a healthy game.

 Q. How do i hook up my car strobes!? i have a whelen four strobe kit that i got from an old cop car that i am using on a show car and can't figure out how to get them to work. each strobe has a set of red, black, and white wires. i grounded the black, attached the red to the positive terminal on the battery, and the white also to the battery. when i did this the strobe started to smoke. what did i do wrong?
because they smoked up does that mean that i blew my strobes or should they still work?
also, i used a switch and a power wire with a fuse but the strobe still created smoke. do i need a special switch. someone please help!
Whelen strobes need a power supply/ controller to work. When you wired them to direct power you most likely damaged them.
http://www.whelen.com/index.php
Is the Whelen site.
I buy my lights from Galls
http://galls.com/index.html They can help you match the power supply you need to the lights, or help you get a kit that will do what you want.

 Q. I got a ticket and i'm trying to figure out the closing speed of the police car? i got a ticket with radar. the problem is the cop pulled me over about 200 feet from where he was orginally sitting with his radar gun. he says his radar gun clocked me at 71 mph. he was at a dead stop on the side of the road. so how fast would he have had to go to catch up to me and pull me over 200 ft later?
71 MPH = 71 * 5280 / 60 = 104.13 feet / second
Then it would take less than 2 seconds to go 200 feet,
which is not a lot of time for him to reach a comparable speed.
In that sort of time frame, every tenth of a second or extra yard makes a difference.
You might have underestimated the distance,
or perhaps once you saw him going you slowed down,
or the radar gun wasn't accurate and you were going slower to begin with,
any of which would give him more time.
I presume he was on a motorcycle to be able accelerate so fast.

 Q. I've always wanted my own personal police car? as any guy who idolizes law enforcement, i have always wanted my own police car, so i've decided to build one of those early to mid light blue 90's nypd caprices.
i know that there are certain parameters as to making the car legal, such as marking it "out of service" and not having a working siren/light bar while driving. (that’s how hollywood transports there fake cruisers, dodge also uses those parameters to show off their police charger that is marked “police”, (and has a light bar). i intend to build and paint it legally; however i've seen with others who have built their own cruisers that have changed out the colored lenses over the light bar for clear ones (i can figure why however, is that necessary as long as the lights are disconnected?)
i live in north carolina where blue lights are illegal, and to have a red light you must be a fireman, or private ambulance. now i’m not worried about confusion because it’s been over 10 years since a nc agency used those old caprices, nobody around here has ever seen a cop car with red lights on it, and “out of service” will be seen everywhere “police” will be. i will most likely rent it out for proms and weddings, and things like that, so some type of “for hire” markings will be somewhere.
my question is what would be the best way to show to the local police in the event of a traffic stop, or road block, or something else of that nature, that i am actually operating this vehicle legally, because the power to the accessories are disconnected, and the police markings are closely followed by “out of service”?
ah thank you lastdude, for digging that up, i had seen that once before, i also enjoyed nathan w’s answer, and the general statute you’ve provided seems to substantiate both of our ideas, both in disconnecting the power, and taking the bulbs out. in other countries i’ve seen these rentable nypd cruisers (understandably with no legal problems), they switch out the red covers with clear ones, i also just thought of painting the lenses solid so that no light could get through, but the bulb idea covers that. i also like the website you provided (lastdude) i’m considering addressing them directly (they would know) thank you.
oh lastdude, do you have a special license plate for that truck because i seemed to remember somewhere seeing a historical police, and historical fire truck plate. however i also considered that the for hire plate would be more fitting
To be honest with you I don't think it legal to put lights like that on your car at all but I may be mistaken. You might check out www.galls.com for parts and stuff. Maybe they have something on their site showing what is legal and such.

 Q. Figure this texas car accident who is to blame? i was driving on the lane next to the exit ramp lane. i checked if any one was in the exit ramp lane and no one was in it only a car behind me. so i turn my signal light on and start to turn and when i am about more than half the lane in both my mother and my brother yell "watch out" and out of the corner of my eye i see a car speeding pass me and he managed to clip me on my right front panel just infront of the tire left rear side. when we parked our cars we met each other and he said " i am sorry bro i saw you signal but i thought i could make it" but then when the cops came he changed his story. he says that he had turned to the exit ramp and passed me then i turned then hit him. think about this if he was in back of me, how in the world was he able the pass me with out speeding because the speed limit of the main lane is 60mph and the exit ramps is 50mph. i was going about 60mph before turning to the exit ramp so if he says he had passed me how can he explain appearing in front of me with out speeding remember he was in back of me and if he turned to the exit ramp he had to have started to reduce his speed. still the cops gave me a ticket for an unsafe lane change and he gave the other driver a ticket for not having a license and it was not suspended or expired nor revoked he just had never taken the test before. i want to add for your better understandment that my car was insured but i was not covered by it. and he also did not have insurance. i also understand how it appeard to the police the did not see the crash so when they arrived all they saw was where the damage was and said that i was at fault. given what i just explained do i have a reasonable case to fight? the other driver either saw my signal but thought he could make it or was not paying attention and managed to get away with it becuase had spead up and i manage to hit him from the rear side????
also he said that he had passed me but that is not true because i would have heard and seen him passing and this is why... he had one of those annoying mufflers that people put on fast streetcars sort of like "the fast and the furious" so i would have heard him because they attract your attention and plus my car does not have a/c so i had the windows down so i would have heard him even better also my mother and my brother would have seen him too...he was behind me when i was turning and i was already on the exit ramp when we crashed.
.
plus the metal from my bumper where we crashed has the metal tearing towards the front of my car not dented inward, this proves that he passed me and when he hit my right panel his car riped my bumpers metal outward toward the front so if he says that i hit him, the metal would have been dented inward instead of outward right?
also can an officer give me that unsafe lane change ticket even though he did not witness the supposed violation???????????
4 hours ago - 4 days left to answer.
additional details
to steve... yes he was also exiting the highway and yes he did admit(to the cops) that he was in back of me and turned towards the exit ramp but it had to be done illegaly though right.
can i win this in court?
civil court that is....
how can ya'll say that he was already in the lane as i started to turned. he had stayed in the main lane while i was turning and i stopped chenking for cars because i was in the lane already when he came from behind me and passed me and managed to hit me.
the reason my mother and brother yelled watch out was because they are the ones the heard him going pass me not because he was next to me and i was going to hit him.
plus ya'll aren't saying that his story is correct your even admiting that based on what i explained he was speeding.
the state of texas has a proportional fault claim that says even if i turned to him he was the one that caused the crash since he was not giong at a safe speed so if he was going the speed limit the crash would have never happened.
Who is Steve? Something tells me you posted this before.
I can't believe I read the whole thing. But, yes, the admissions in your story are sufficient to establish you as an at-fault driver. You did not have the right of way. The other driver did not "come out of nowhere." You were responsible for seeing him, and not merging unless you could do so safely.
This is not to say he does not bear responsibility for speeding or whatever, but no, you can't "win this in court."
Did Steve agree?

 Q. Should i buy the club for my car? (to prevent car theft)? does it work? do you guys think it's worth it? how hard would it be for the thief to remove it (do they have to saw it open)?
i had my car stolen last night and the cops found it this morning so realizing it is old and one of the most stolen cars, i figured i should try to prevent theft. note that that car is old and i'm not going to spend a couple hundred on an alarm system or expensive technology.
A Club will not deter a professional thief. It will almost certainly stop the joy-rider, who is looking for the car that is easiest to steal. A Club requires a club-buster, or other tools to defeat, joy-riding kids do not carry that kind of stuff around.
