"The displaced disks at your back are most..."

the displaced disks at your back are most painful and at times they makes you actually parallize because you cannot stand due to the sever pain in the back. the other problem in case of the displaced disks is this that they are not clearly visible in the xrays. so a normal doctor cant figure them out. they fix by the doctor by using medicines and in extreme cases by operation. that is a very painful operation. Q. How do i call a condition where there is a displaced disc in my lower vertebral column?
i experience severe pains in my lower vertebral column and doctors suggest it my be a displacement in my lower vertebral column.

"Herniated discs can be treated with steroid injections..."

It's called a herniated disc. If your attending physician suggested that this may be your problem, then I would assume that he, or she has also suggested you getting an M.R.I.. If you are feeling numbness in your buttocks, and legs, you may want to consider consulting a specialist. Herniated discs can be treated with steroid injections, combined with physical therapy to reduce inflammation, and relieve pressure on the surrounding nerves, but in many cases, surgery is performed to remove the disc.

Q. What are displaced disc in the back?
the doc told me i had 2 displaced disc in my back that are buldging, this is very painful at times.any info on how this happens, what can i do to help the pain,is this a forever condition, what can be done to correct it

"You some movements to do that should help to reduce you back pain..."

Jimmy, your doctor gave you what is considered a layman's terminology. Discs are made up in a very special way and it is almost impossible to displace one or to have one slipped. The ligaments in the back would not allow this to happen. What the doctor is stating is that 2 of your discs have sustained damage to their outer walls. This means that the fluid material that is kept within the disc has started to move through the walls but has not completely broken through. A bulge can still cause pain in a number of ways. The first is that it pushes on the exit point where the nerve of that level comes out thus causing the pain. The next way is that the muscles in that area react by going into spasm and that is what most people actually feel. There are ways to control this and keep it from happening again. For this you need to see a physical therapist that does backs. They will teach you that posture is the most important thing that you can do to help your back. Poor posture allows more damage to occur. So make sure that your posture is as good as you can. They will also start you on a series of exercises to control the position of the fluid in the back keeping it away from the nerves. Lastly I am going to give you some movements to do that should help to reduce you back pain . Sit in a straight chair and keep the hips and feet still. Turn your body to the left as far as you can and note the degree of rotation. Now turn to the right as far as you can and note the degree of rotation. One direction is going to turn further so start with that direction. Turn in that direction as far and hard as you can for 30 seconds and then rest for 15 seconds. Repeat that sequence twice more exactly as stated. Upon completion of that side now turn in the opposite direction and do the movements exactly the same way 3 times. Next raise your left arm up as high as it will go and note the height achieved. Return the arm to the side and now do the right arm up as high as it will go and note how high it went. One arm will go higher so start with that arm first. Raise that arm up as high and hard as you can for 30 seconds and then rest for 15 seconds. Repeat that sequence exactly the same way twice more and upon completion do the opposite arm the same way 3 times. Lastly, turn the head to the left as far as it will go and note the degree of rotation and then turn to the right and note the degree of rotation. One direction will have turned further so start in that direction first. Turn the head in that direction as hard and far as you can for 30 seconds and rest for 15 seconds. Repeat that exactly the same way twice more and then rest. Now turn the head in the opposite direction 3 times exactly the same way. Upon completion get up and move around. The pain should be lessened and there should be more mobility in the back. Do these movements at least twice a day.

Q. Recently injured in an auto accident, i was not at fault. i have 3 displaced discs in my spine. average comp??
i was involved in an auto accident. another driver was attempting to pass 3 cars behind me and then decided to try to pass me as i was in the process of making a left hand turn. the other driver stated to police that he did not notice i was turning even though i did have my signal on and the other cars behind me were slowing down to allow me to make the turn. the other car t-boned my drivers side door and front wheel well causing me to skid completely across the road. he hit me at approximately 50-60 mph. i have been to 4 doctors and my official diagnosis is displacement of a thoracic intervertabral disc and a cervical vertabral disc and a bilateral ivd. i am suffering severe headaches and pains in my neck, between my shoulderblades and into my lower back as well as tingling and numbness in my fingers and toes.i cannot return to my regular work duties.only light duty. i have one of the best attorneys and doctors in texas working my case. what kind of monetary settlement can i expect?

What kind of monetary settlement can I expect? On Yahoo Answers you can except a number of answers that don't apply to your SPECIFIC case. There is no such thing as average compensation. Even if there was, that has nothing to do with what you can expect.

Q. Is it possible that the disc brakes of a car will displace or overheat?

"Vibration on the brake pedal if your discs are suffering run out..."

You may mean distort This will happen if the disc's get over heated by hard braking then sitting in traffic with your foot on the brake causing a hot spot which makes the disc "run out" You will feel a wobble on the steering and a small vibration on the brake pedal if your discs are suffering run out . They can be skimmed to correct the fault if they are not over worn or too bad. But the cost is around the same as new discs so it is probably better and easier to replace them and the brake pads. If the brakes have been over heated the efficiency is lower then normal.

Q. Wife went to a back specialist?
i took her to a back specialist and he had not received the mri report, after looking at the mri itself for less that 5 min had determined that nothing but arthritis in her back. the report states two fractures and a displaced disc. he prescribed therapy. i think a second opinion is needed before therapy. anyone else want to weigh in on the matter.

"It's never a bad idea to get a second opinion..."

It's never a bad idea to get a second opinion. I would believe what the report says over what the doctor said. The report came from a radiologist who is specialized in reading MRI's. He would know more about what he was seeing than the back doctor.

Q. How can i give a massage to help his back problems?
my boyfriend has terrible back problems from displaced discs and needs massages to help ease the pain. how can i give a good massage to help him? he also works out a lot to drop enough weight to get back surgery, but now and then it makes his muscles sore. what is most effective and what feels good? i understand basic movements of massages and i really appreciate the replies!!! please help!!

"Massage goes...depending on where the source of pain is...is it surface muscle knots...or is..."

Back pain is the worst!! I have the same problem...partially herniated disc in L5.... I've spent many afternoons in Doctors offices looking for a non-surgical answer.... Here's what I have found works best for me.... For me its about Proactive exercises...stretching and flexibility. Have him lay flat on his back....he needs to bring his knees up to his chest.....have him pull his knees into his chest by grabbing his knees and pulling his chin to his chest so it looks like he's trying to curl into a ball....this stretches the muscles all up and down the spine. As far as massage goes...depending on WHERE the source of pain is...is it surface muscle knots...or is it pain caused by a misaligned spine? If it's knots, you can work those out....pain caused by his spinal misalignment is not as easily worked out...attempting a massage in this case can actually cause more pain than you alleviate My best advice for you and your man is to visit a chiropractor together so that you can BOTH ask questions and get answers that work for you.... Massage may not be the way to go....there may be other circumstances that are unique to your situation.

Q. Pins and needles sensation in foot?
okay, well my mom has an issue going on with her neck. when you touch her neck, up near her skull and close to her spine, her foot gets pins and needles. but when you let go, it goes away. this is confusing us all, what could it be? also, she has a few compressed spinal discs in her back, a few displaced discs, ruptured discs, and spinal cord impingement. this might mean something, but i'm not sure. thanks in advance.

the best way is to cantact the physician or else it may be a serious problem
