    Q. Is my car insured?

In order to find out wether a car is insured , one will have to check a lot of factors. firstly when and how was the car bought. If the car was bought as new , it must be insured for a specific duration.Check the time that has passed since the car was bought and the time it was insured for. Jack Sullivan

    Q. What to do when your car is hit by another insured car?

First of all when your car is being hit by any other car, call the police. Second thing is to call your insurance agency and inform them about your car being hit by the other car. Calling police and making them a report will help later when you need to provide proof to your insurance company that the accident was not because of your fault. bill Perry

    Q. How do i know if my car is insured?

In order to check out if the car is insured or not, check it out with the deprtment of motor vehicles popular in public as DMV of your state and ask them giving the details about your car, if the car is insured or not . Other option can be to directly ask the insurance company, if the issue is linked with expiry of license.

    Q. How can i find which company my house is insured under?
my husband recently passed away ans he was the one who took care of a lot of the financial responsiblities. he never mentioned what company our house is insured under. is there a way to find out? i looked throughout the house and couldnt find the papers concerning house insurance. plus, i know we had the basement of the house insured since we had a small commercial business running. but still i can't seem to find who insured the commercial part of the house either. a few months before he passed he changed insurance company. but he never even got a chance to tell what company it was since he died abruptly. what can i do? i already went to the company we dealt with in the past., they are not the one who are currently insuring us. please help! the house not longer mortgaged. are there companies that specialize in searching this type of information?

Is your home still mortgaged? If so, your mortgage company would know since it is mandatory to have the home insured if you want to have a mortgage with them.

    Q. What must an insurer and insured do following a loss to a home covered?
what must an insurer and insured do following a loss to a home covered by a homeowner’s policy? discuss one requirement of each party and describe why you think each requirement is in place. how would each requirement benefit each party?

What an insured must do, is clearly spelled out in the policy, under the section called "Your duties in event of a loss".

    Q. How do i force an insured homeowner to give us the name of their insurer for a small medical liabilty claim?
fell down carpeted, narrow steps and homeowners are isured but will not provide info. our insurer denied claim because homeowner is insured. only $200 in medical bills, but over a month on crutches due to 2 sprained ankles. still have pain, stiffnes and swelling. did not want to sue, but they are irresponsible and will not return calls.

The only coverage that may apply would be Medical Payments coverage. You have not posted any information that indicates that the homeowner was negligent and that their negligence caused your injury. Medical Payments does not pay for "pain and suffering" or lost wages. It does not pay for residents of the household. It will help with medical bills up to the policy limit, which is usually only a couple of thousand dollars. A lot will also depend on why you were at their home. Are you a friend or family member that was visiting? Were you there because they hired you to do work on their home? The only way to "force" them is to file a lawsuit. Then they may contact their insurance company. Your health insurance company should have sent you a written denial. If the homeowner is a friend or family member, I'd go over to the home and speak to them. Be nice, be polite. Calmly show them the letter and let them know that your health insurance will only pay once they get a letter from the homeowners insurance company that there is no coverage for your bills under their policy. Give them a copy of the letter and ask them to file a claim on their homeowners policy so that your health insurance can get the letter they need to process your claim. If you have been nasty, hostile etc in your phone calls to them....when you go over... sincerely apologize for your behavior. Explain that you have been stressed out by the medical bills but that was no excuse for you to take it out on them - that was wrong and you apologise. Remember, you catch more files with honey than with vinegar.

    Q. Whats the difference between an insured fund and a trust fund?
in regards to pension plans. they seem like the same thing except insured plans are handled by insurance companies and trust funds are handled by banks. what other differences do they have?

2 different things. There are funds that are insured and funds that are not. Trust funds can be insured or not, your choice.

    Q. Who is the insured on a homeowners insurance policy if the insured dies?
about a month before she died, my aunt transferred her house into my name using a quit claim deed. we did not talk about her homeowners insurance. after she died, i could not find any information on who her agent was or who the company was. when the premium bill came, i promptly paid it. about a month later, the company sent a letter asking if anyone was living in the house. the house is vacant. i gave them details on me and a copy of the death certificate and the deed and explained the situation. i never heard from them again. the question is, typically, does coverage cease when the insured passes away? or does it automatically transfer when the house changes ownership? the house is free and clear by the way.

Oh, bummer. Well, to answer the first question . . . the executor of the estate is an insured, while the estate is being settled, along with the estate of the deceased. Vacancy does become an issue, so likely the company will be cancellling or nonrenewing the policy, but it DOESNT MATTER. More on that . . . HOWEVER, homeowners policies aren't transferrable, so HER policy is irrelevant, if she quit claim deeded the house to YOU. YOU need your OWN policy. Her policy doesn't cover YOUR house. So right now, the house is uninsured. The policy doesn't transfer - not automatically, not with effort. You have to buy your own policy. For a vacant property policy, it's EXPENSIVE. And the coverage isn't very broad. Contact a local agent who sells Foremost Insurance - www.foremost.com - they have the BEST price for vacant properties.

    Q. What happens if your car is insured and for example a tree falls onto it?
i'd my car is insured for full cover and a tree falls onto it for example who's fault does that become?

Unless you can prove that the tree fell as a result of poor care, or that the owner knew the tree was in danger of falling, then it's no ones fault. It would be covered under comprehensive, which covers unavoidable accidental damage.

    Q. How does fdic insured work for one checking, savings and multiple cd accounts?
i and my wife joinly own one checking, one savings and few cd accounts in chase bank. each of these accounts have different account numbers. does it mean that each of these accounts are insured up to 100k or combined balance on all of these accounts together are insured up to 100k?

The limit is $100,000 per insured bank. If you want more insurance than this, you need to spread your money across several banks, not across several accounts.

    Q. What is an "additional insured" and how does it affect an insurance claim?
i recently had a pretty bad fire. the property was well insured, and included 2 "additional insured" whom i am told will be on the check for any payout. does this mean they get "first dibs" on the money before i can cover my ongoing expenses, or is this simply a way for them to be notified that i have been paid? so far i haven't found a good answer- even from my agent.

An additional insured is someone else that is named on your policy as an insured. I'm assuming that you have two mortgages on this house and the two additional insureds will be the two banks or mortgage companies that hold the lien. The insurance company is making the check payable to you and to the lien holders to make sure the lien holders get paid. If the house were a total loss and you chose not to rebuild, this would make sure that the lien holders get paid for the loans that they have. If you are rebuilding, then you'll need to get the lien holders to sign off on the checks so you can pay the contractors. It's a huge inconvenience. However, it is for the protection of the lien holders that the checks are issued that way. Otherwise, the home owner could cash the check, not rebuild and let the property go into foreclosure and not pay the bank off. The insurance company is obligated to make sure the lienholders don't get left holding the bag, so to speak. As long as you are rebuilding, the lien holders shouldn't have any problem signing off on the checks. They will, however, want to make sure the contractors get paid so there won't be any mechanics liens placed on the house for work that is being done by contractors.
