Q. What canon inject printers have chip free ink cartridges?
i would like to replace my current canon inkjet with a new one. i want one that does not have chipped ink cartridges. my current model is the i850. any suggestions? i'm looking for good photo prints at a low cost. i have been looking at printer cartridge prices, i just was hoping someone could recommend one over another.

"On ebay for some of the older canon printers that are not chipped (canon..."

The newer canon's that take the individual cartridges are all chipped. You can search on Ebay for some of the older Canon printers that are not chipped (Canon Pixma iP4000/6000), but the new ones all have chips on the bottom. Now there are replacements for those cartridges out there that are about 5-7 dollars cheaper than the OEM Canon cartridges.

Q. How hard or easy? is it to replace the 'chip' on ink refill for canon pixma mx700 office all-in-one?
i found a site for ink replacement (www.megatoners.com) to replace the ink on my new canon pixma mx700 series office all-in-one. however, you have to replace the chip. i looked at for example just the 'black' ink cartridge and can't seem to locate where the chip would be located. *1st question: anyone know where the chip is located? *2nd question: once i find the chip, anyone know how hard or easy? it would be to replace the chip? thanks for reading

"On the ink cartridge that usually is a 45 degree angle on the bottom "front"..."

The "chip" is the little "circuit board" on the ink cartridge that usually is a 45 degree angle on the bottom "front"; of the cartridge (below the "tab" you press to release the cartridge)

Q. Problems with ink replacement on canon printer mp210?
hi everyone, i'm hoping someone will be able to help me with my problem. i have a canon mp210 printer and yesterday took the ink cartridges into 'cartridge world' to be refilled. once i put them back in printer it still says that my ink is low and needs replacing. i rang canon yesterday after trying to find out why it still says low and basically he told me that the chip in cartridge still recognises the ink as low and the only way around this is to buy new canon cartridges, which would cost way more than the printer cost itself. what i want to know is that will it stop printing all together when original level is out as there was a tad still left in before i got them refilled. thanks in advance.

"Will not be shown anymore despite the cartridge having been refilled..."

Hi, Your printer uses the PG40 black and CL41 colour cartridges. These can be refilled but the ink level monitor will no longer show the level of ink in them. This is a problem with these Canon cartridges and has been engineered into them to do just this by the manufacturer. I sell remanufactured cartridges and although the ink level will not be shown anymore despite the cartridge having been refilled , it will continue to print. You'll just have to keep an eye on the print quality to see when it is running low on ink I'm affraid.

Q. Is there any current model epson or canon printers that will work with aftermarket ink without a nag?
most cartridges have a chip on them and the driver software complains if your using a non-oem cartridge. or it's hard to find a aftermarket cartridge that fits correctly or works reliably due to canon or epson's design. if epson/canon sold more afordable cartridges, i'd buy them but replacing ink these days is almost as expensive as the printer itself!

"Specifically because it's cheaper to design a cartridge that can't be duplicated or re-filled..."

No recent consumer level ink jet models that I'm aware of allow after-market ink cartridges. This is specifically because it's cheaper to design a cartridge that can't be duplicated or re-filled then it is to allow competition into the market. Because of this, printer manufacturers have a monopoly on the cartridges and can charge huge amounts of money for cartridges even though they cost little to make. Because of this monopoly, there's no way to get a computer printer that won't cost you a huge amount of money in consumables. I would support legislation that requires printer manufacturers to use Standard Type 1 print cartridges (to be defined) and require that the profit margin be no more than %50 of the price of materials and workmanship in producing said cartridge. To the printer manufacturers: Hey, you charge us a lot of money for these things. This legislation wouldn't be required if you cared about the customer, a.k.a. your source of income. Competition is part of capitalism. Preventing competition is akin to communism. Are you guys capitalists or are you communists?

Q. Canon printer ink refill?
i guess i need to reset the chips on my ink cartridges for my canon pixma ip 4200 series printer. i refilled it and it does not work. however i can only find epsom chip resetters. does a canon chip resetter exist yet? is this infact what i need to be able to refill my ink cartridges? i am so aggravated by this as my stupid printer will not even let me print out anything in black and white until the magenta ink tank is replaced.. even though it is refilled. what a scam!

"A cannon chip resetter does not exist..."

Although now that I'm seeing the types of questions that you're asking, I can see that you are getting into things that only three geeks would be inclined to give you an answer to. However I can tell you that No, a Cannon Chip resetter does not exist. You're talking about Cannon after all. They're not interested in you saving money but in you spending top dollar for everything that you want with the Cannon name. They are no longer 'top of the line' where it comes to electronics. In fact I would rate them 'welfare of the line' if anything. I've dealt with them and I'm not going to bore you with the details, but you'd be better of with something else. I won't give product endorsements but I will tell you that Cannon isn't interested in making technology easy or intelligent for the user.

Q. Did you know canon printer mp530 is a rip off? i hate it.?
a warning to those printer shopping: do not buy a canon mp530 it requires 5 separate cartridges to make this thing run. if even one of them runs out, you can not print until you replace it. additionally, even if you have your computer set to only print in black and white, you will still run down the "cyan", "magenta", and "yellow" catridges, and have to replace them in order to continue printing in black and white. there is not one black cartridge, but two, a large and small. i have still not figured out why in the world there are two. once more, none of the five cartridges can be empty or missing or you will not be able to print anything. to those unlucky people who also already own one, fyi generic ink will work just fine in the printer. at least office depot's will work. i had a problem one time with those chips on the cartridge. my printer didn't recognize it, and kept saying i had the wrong one. i just exchanged it and got another office depot cartridge, then it worked fine. if not for this idiotic ink situation, this would be a great machine. it prints, copies and faxes. the only other problem i've had with it is that it's incredibly difficult to get jammed paper out of it, unless i've overlooked some secret door somewhere. well, i'm off to buy more "cyan" ink so i can print in black and white.....

"You have just described every multi cartridge printer but named just one model..."

Congratulations! You have just described every multi cartridge printer but named just one model. Canon are one of the best printer manufactures there is. If you want to know how to be ripped off with ink buy an Epson! ALL printers with multi cartridges use ALL the ink colours to print - even if only printing black. The ink is like water oil and petrol in a car. The printer uses ink for maintenance like the car use oil to keep the engine running smoothly. A printer will use ink if turned on every day even if you don't print a sheet. If you run your printer with one colour empty you can burn out you printer head and then you are talking, cheaper to buy a new printer that replace it. The printer wont print without ink to protect the printer head from permanent damage. EDit There are two black ink as one is dye and one is pigment. Both are better for different task. Having two is the sign of a good printer that allows a better range of printing not a bad printer. See the link below for better explaination on it. http://www.oddparts.com/ink/faq19.htm

Q. What is the cheapest & most convenient way to refill ink cartrdges for a canon mp980 printer?
i bought a canon mp980 series printer, now all six cartridges are out of ink. i don't know anything about printer other than how to print but plan on learning more soon. the question is where can i get them refilled or replaced for cheaper with same quality ink? is it cheaper to refill with ink kits or buy cartridges already filled, they contain a chip in them and don't know what brands if any are compatible? please help find a solution to this answer whether it be a store to buy ink and or cartridges or buy on line ? also if i buy the whole cartridges, what do i do with the old ones and, are they worth anything? the model is( canon mp980 series) contains six cartridges these are them cci-221 bk / cci-221m / cci-221y / cci-221c / cci-221gy / pgi-220bk

You certainly could purchase a refill kit, and refill them yourself. honestly though, that is a lot of work. A better alternative is to try remanufactured cartridges (which are essentially used cartridges that were professionally refilled).
