How to you put cartridges in pixma ip4600? Perhaps I am stupid but I seriously need help with this. Is anyone able to help me with this?

Yes. But you have to buy a kit or in some cases you need to buy a cartridge already refilled which is a great option since you don`t have to get messy trying to fill it yourself. If you are doing any significant quantity of printing then you need to do refills because the cost per copy is 10x what it was a few years back. The printer companies are not giving printers away almost free and ripping you on the ink. That works out great for the casual user who prints a few pages just once in a while, but for business use, ink prices are crazy AND DO NOT REFLECT the cost to produce the ink in any way shape or form!!!

Honestly I would not recommend changing the chip found on the Canon Pixma iP4600 Ink Cartridges because there`s too much hassle and risk involved. Why not just buy compatible ip4600 cartridges that are much lower in price? /john ice

Q. What are the 5 cartridges used for on the canon pixma ip4600?
i'm looking at buying the above printer, and see that it uses a 5-ink system. the printer only ships with four inks however, and on closer investigation it turns out that the printer accepts two black cartridges, but only ships with one. can someone clarify what the second black is used for and if it is necessary? i'll be mostly using the printer for photos. thanks

The pigment black cartridge is optional in the sense that if you REALLY want , good photo reproduction and color, it is controlled through with the pigmentation which is what the 5th cartrdige does. Also, if you want to print black and white photos, that cartridge is used . Otherwise, it will eat up your small black cartridge . The object is to keep those 4 cartridges at an even level sort of. Also, if you have text and want a good clean , crisp output, that extra cartrdige will produce just that compared to the smaller one. Thanks for the TD. Now warranted.

hi there, i was looking on ebay for some inks for my canon pixma ip4600. i'm confused! on most listings the item is described as coming "with chips". what chips? does it mean that these listings are fake inks? or what.

For a number of these Canon cartridges the old chip from your cartridge can be taken off and attached to the new cartridge. I would not recommend buying ink cartridges that do not come with the chip. It's not worth the aggrevation. if you are looking to save a few bucks, I'd recommend trying remanufactured or compatible Canon cartridges.
