Q. Is it considered unlawful if i buy a police scanner on iphone in the state of florida?
i was arrested recently for having a police scanner on my iphone and the i was charged with unlawful installment of a police scanner. but it wasn't unlawful because it was plugged into a aux cord to my car. and now the ft.lauderdale police department doesn't want to give me back my iphone. and the stat attorney office is suppose to file the charge if there is one to be file. but i need some legal advise

Read up on the laws that deal with police scanners. In Florida it is illegal to have a scanner in your vehicle unless you have and FCC issued radio licence

Q. What information is needed to report a car stolen in florida?
i had sold my car a couple of months ago, and the person that bought it never registered the car in his name. the car was stolen, and he said he reported it stolen. but the impound lot just contacted me, since i was the last registered owner of the vehicle, and are now ready to put a lien on my license if i do not pay the impound fees. the guy that bought the car would have/should have been contacted when the car was found, right? was he even able to legally report the car stolen? what info would the police need to file the report? *** i have a bill of sale, but, they wont take it because it is not notarized. i cant get it notarized now because the date would be current, they wont stamp it for the wrong date. i transferred my tag to another vehicle, and tag office knows i dont have the car, but, that is not enough proof for the impound lot.

Unless you can prove you sold the vehicle, you're sunk. Did you turn the plates in?

Q. I bought a car from the owner in the state of florida and it has been less than 24hrs can i get my money back?
i went tosee the car the sellerassured me the air conditioning worked and the belt needed to be tightened, after taking it to a ase licensed mechanic, i was told it needed a new compressor and ac work on the inside and it would cost $800-900, if the guy i bought from refuss to give me my money back can i call the police, what should i do?

Nothing you can do, nothing the police will do, unless you have something in writing from the owner stating a clause in the sale that you would get a refund back if there was more to it than having the belt tightened, you are out of options except get it fixed on your own. Always have a car checked out by someone that knows about cars or work something out with the seller that will allow for some type of partial refund, as you should have done. Maybe you can ask the previous owner if he/she will meet you part way on this in a form of getting some of your money back. Hard way to learn a lesson.

Q. Gave deposit on a car without a title in florida--seller will not return deposit.?
gave $500 deposit on car. seller (s.) said he would have title in 6 days. a few days later: i told my dad i bought a car.he said s. shouldn't be selling the car without the title. s. was seeming shady to me now. so when s. called me that night, i told him i did not want the car & i was really sorry & he could keep $100 for the hassle. 2 days later, i had a day off work, so i called & emailed asking to meet.he refused to return the $, saying that he gave an $800 deposit on a van and lost the $ b/c he was waiting to complete the car transaction w/me. (total bs-car still listed online!) said he could sue me for the $800 he lost. my parents talked to him and he still wouldn't budge.then ignored our phone calls. finally we arranged to meet at my univ. he demanded i bring the money. he still did not have the title! after we went to police,he rushed and got a title. am i obliged to buy this car? i feel that i was deceived. plz help. do you have the car or has the seller had it the whole time? -seller has had it the whole time.

1) The seller's defense that "I lost my deposit on this other deal" is complete nonsense. If he can not produce a title, then he had no right to rely on his "sale" to you. It really wasn't a sale. 2) He may have committed a criminal violation for selling a car without a title. If he doesn't budge, think about going to the police and filing a complaint against the seller for obtaining money under false pretenses. 3) Not clear whether the DMV has any authority in this case and probably not if this guy is a private seller. But if he is a dealer, even a casual dealer, you can make his life very uncomfortable by calling in the DMV. Do you have any idea how many cars the seller sells per year? Most states have a rule that says that if you sell more than 4 - 6 cars a year you need a dealer plate. Ripping off people will almost certainly prevent someone from getting a dealer's plate. 4) I am not a big fan of small claims court. But if the seller is not able to deliver a clean title, this is a pretty straight forward case and the small claims judges should be able to handle it. I'd suggest getting your Dad or Mom to appear with you in small claims court. It is easier to have someone else present your case. Don't give up. You still have a lot of rights and several potential avenues to pursue. Good luck.

Q. My friend got arrestted driving my car with a counterfeit temp tag.& car was forfeited.in coral spgs florida.?
i called the impound yard and they said the car was being held by the coral springs police..she was pulled over and arrestted with a cristmas tree and presents.. i called the police dept. and they said it was forfeited.i just bought the car and had not registered the car..how can i get the car back? they said that under the florida law if your arrested for a felony your car can be forfeited..i had no idea that this was even a felony..let alone that i could have lost the car this way...what can i do.?

File a theft charge against your Friend and claim she made the counterfeit tag. then you can get car back as recovered stolen property after conviction. If friend says you made up counterfeit tag and judge believes her you will go to jail for perjury and obstruction charges. Can we have an honest answer from you about who put on the false tag?

Q. Do i belong in mexico or california? i'm mexican-american?
hi i was born in california & my both parents are from mexico but they have been living in the u.s. for 22 yrs & mother & father got their u.s. citizenship back 2 yrs ago. my grandfather he served in the usaf as a e-3 in 1957-1963. i'm proud to be a american citizen & i will die for this country. i believe in the constitution & freedom of speech. it hurts me of what's going on in the state of arizona & yesterday a friend of mine who lives in arizona & also a u.s. born citizen & he also served in the u.s.navy for 6yrs as a e-4, he got stop buy 3 police cars in a public sidewalk to ask him for his id & papers. when the cops find out that he was a u.s. born citizen, they let him go out the police car & cops they did not say sorry for any inconvenience. what do you think it made him feel? i do not know what to think & yes we need to secure are both boarders in canada & mexico. being a republican, i believe that the white-americans who are republicans, are trying to get rid of the hispanic population in the west, florida, & north east & it also seems that we are going back in time in the 1950s again. so my question is, in my a american or a impostor? p.s. yes i should post this question in immigration section but their are way too many ignorance people in that section. to reality, you sir or mam you insult me for calling me a liar! p.s. what is the point posting questions or asking question if their are way too many bad people in this world & also in yahoo answer? go ahead call me a liar or phony because you can't face the facts!

You are an American, and so are your parents. You have Mexican heritage and that's cool (with a lot of us, but not all). Sadly, much of the anti-immigration stuff today is about "lets keep them *brown* people south of the border." I don't agree with it at all. But a vocal fringe of American society does. Anyway, to me and most of the people I know, you and your family are welcomed here. I'm unclear on why you would call yourself a republican though. Now, that is confusing.

Q. When a police officer calls on the radio?
a drivers license number and the dispatch gives back the full name, address, social security number, height, weight and eye color of the person for a speeding ticket and someone over hears it on a scanner could this be where many identity thefts are occurring ? i must hear at least 50 per day mine was given out about 2 months ago and now have a problem that someone in florida had credit cards and bought a car in my name. i filed a police report but the local cops said that it is unlikely someone that was listening to a scanner would use the information and they have to get a social security number because its "procedure"

i hear them all the time on my scanner from the state police and local sheriff. Any illegal could get this information and apply for a new social security card and work under your number, not pay taxes and the irs come after you. Its scary...
