"Yes infact the vin stands for vehicle identification number and..."

Yes infact the VIN STANDS for VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER and this number is written on the windshield or it can be written inside the drivers doors jam. so this number is required by the insuracnce company and you need to give this number to them. they are able to identify the vehicle using this number when required. thanks

    This answer closely relates to:

    Q. My car registration and vin number don't match. what form do we need to register with correct vin in pa?
the car was imported from germany (81 benz). it was purchased about 5 years ago. it is insured and has passed inspection 4 times with the vin number on the registration. the registration vin and the vin on the car (little metal plate under hood) do not match. we need to know what form or what steps to take in order for the registration vin to match the car vin. we live in pennsylvania.

"Possibly the state patrol to have the car vin checked..."

You'll probably have to take the car to your state's inspection site, possibly the State Patrol to have the car VIN checked. Once the VIN is verified, you will receive a form that you take to the DMV to have the registration/title corrected. If the VIN is wrong on the registration, it is wrong on the title as well, and this can cause big problems, especially when attempting to sell the car. It may have been a simple typo error, or it may be much more complex, with documents coming from overseas and customs documents, the VIN should have been verified when it entered the states.

    Q. My car has no vin number, how do i insure it?
hey everyone, i just finished restoring a 1968 mustang fastback, when i originally got the car it was only the back part (no front end) i read that the vin number is underneath the front wheel well but i had those bought aftermarket. i am only 17 so i am new to this, how will i be able to get insurance / register the car without a vin? the car has no registration

"You will have to have the car inspected and they might reissue a..."

Your mustang will have at least two locations for the Vehicle Identification Number. One is behind the windshield on the driver's side. One is on the frame, should be on the drivers side under the wheel well. And I believe there is one on the left frame rail above the axel. Don't quote me on that. The State patrol vehicle inspection office, (might be part of the DMV) should have a listing of where all the VINs would be located for your car. However, just locating one is not going to cut it. You will have to have the car inspected and they might reissue a new VIN or at least put new VIN tags on the car.

    Q. When you build and register your own car, do you get a vin number for it?
i'm trying to build a locost lotus 7 replica, and i'm wondering if california's vehicle verification process will give me a vin number before/during/after the whole deal. my insurance company says that they won't insure a vehicle without a vin number.

"Take the car to them when it is finished..."

Yes. The DMV will create a VIN# when you get it inspected. Take the car to them when it is finished. Get a one day moving pass from them to do so. They will also issue you plates for front and back. You'll need to get it smogged too. After you get the VIN#. Get another one day moving pass for that.

    Q. Can a person get caught for "insuring" a junkyard car under a "false" vin # in order to get multi-car discount
how would they get caught though?

"False vin #s are pretty tough to get away with..."

Even ignoring the possiblity of denied insurance because of a false or misleading statement, and the possibility of criminal charges, false vin #s are pretty tough to get away with. More states and provinces are using updated programmes, such as Polk, to check those numbers, not just on cars, but motorcycles, snowmobiles, quads, trailers, just about everything that gets registered. Plus, even if you get away with it for a while, what do you do when you get the letter asking for an inspection on the junker?

    Q. How do you convert a salvage car title to a clean title?
i recently purchased a car with a nc salvage title and my insurance company won't insure it for anything more than liability coverage. i spoke to an adjustor for the insurance company and he told me that if i can find a way to get a clean title they will fully insure the car. even if it comes up in the vin history report that it formerly had a total loss claim, they will still fully insure the car. the process has been done in the past to defraud people into buying a car that's not worth as much but i'm just trying to work this out so i can insure my car with full coverage.

"There's alot of vin history the general public doesn't have access to...so don't try it..."

Are you wanting to go to jail for insurance fraud? There's no way you can turn a salvage vehicle into a non-salvaged vehicle. and believe you me, there's alot of VIN history the general public doesn't have access to...so don't try it, you'll get caught.

    Q. Insurance companies that would insure on vin number in uk?
hello, i am in process of registering an imported car with dvla. one of the things they require is a current british insurance. the problem is that that i cannot find a company that would do this. most of them say that they require an uk registration. it is catch 22 situation. perhaps somebody has experience with this and could suggest companies that would insure on the vin number, at least untill i get the registration from the dvla (2-3 days).

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=specialist+import+car+insurance gives you a list of specialist import insurance. You're doing something outside the norm for most insurance companies so you need to go to a specialist company and be prepared for the hefty price tag that they're going to put on it.

    Q. Is buying a car out of state with moneygram and propay safe?
i recently saw an ad on madison craigslist for a 2001 lexus is 300 for sale for $2,496 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental us. i contacted the seller and he e-mailed back: "i am selling the car because i am in the army, and my unit will be deployed to afghanistan in november. the transaction will be closed only through a 3rd party and this way we will both be protected. my time is limited due to my job in the army so i decided to use a service from propay. to begin the transaction i'll need your full name and shipping address, i will forward the details of our transaction to propay and then you will receive an invoice from them. the car will be shipped insured to your location with das and you will have 5 days for inspection." i was also told that it has 47,663 miles and what the cars vin number is. i checked the vin number through carfax and autocheck vehicle history reports and everything came up clean for the most part. i'm worried that even with the "secure third party" that i will make my transaction with moneygram and propay and will not see the car. has anyone ever purchased a vehicle/other using these? i e-mailed the seller my husbands name and address to get the transaction started and recieved and e-mail from propay with the following details/instructions: -buyer and seller agree to terms -both parties agree to terms of the transaction, which includes a description of the merchandise, sale price and any shipping information. -buyer deposit the money to propay using money gram. -the buyer submits a payment, selecting money gram to our propay representative from detroit, mi. -the seller ships the vehicle -upon payment verification, propay web site is authorized to ship merchandise and submit tracking information. propay verifies that the buyer receives the merchandise. b-uyer accepts the merchandise -propay pays the seller -propay pays the seller by cashier's check, money gram or wire transfer. the transaction is complete. propay web site, an accredited company, acts as a secure third party to protect the buyer and seller. using money gram to pay for your purchase may also expedite your transaction. payments get there quickly, which means you may get your goods fast. buyer and seller will receive email confirmations, when the payment is sent. propay safeharbor takes several steps to protect both the buyer and seller against fraud : all shipments are tracked to ensure the seller shipped and the buyer received the merchandise. if the merchandise is fraudulent, it gives the buyer the chance to return the merchandise before payment is released to the seller. locate the nearest money gram office. make the payment with cash using our agent details as receiver. e-mail us the following details from the payment receipt: reference number - 8 digits number from the receipt, sender name and address receiver name (william preston), amount $2,496.00 send us the copy of the payment receipt through fax at: +1 (313) 668-6472. i recieved the following response when i asked if my husband and i could come and look at the vehicle because we only live 2 hours away: "there is no problem from my point of view, you can come and pick it up but you should know that i'm now based in buffalo ny and i will come home to meet you or to start the shipping process only if i have the payment confirmation from propay." overall, do you think this is a safe deal? or just a scam to get my money and leave me with no car? help please!

I am 100% certain that this is a scam. Propay doesn't even accept Money Grams. DON'T do it!!
