 Q. How do you buy auction cars? i want to buy a 2008 mercedes c320 for as cheap as i can possibly get it, and i tried ebay auto trader and dealerships, but i want to find cheaper ways, and i heard of buying cars at auctions...but i was wondering, how do you do that?
"You to buy a car from an auction..."
All you have to do is bring your license and money with you to buy a car from an auction . Since you want a 2008 Mercedes you'll need at least $8,000 or more in cash because they don't finance.

 Q. How much prices below retail can you buy cars at an auction? i am trying to get my used car dealer license. i have never been to a car auction before. normally, how much $$ below retail can you buy cars at an auction? let's say good condition 10 year old honda or toyota or nissan - how much can you buy them for?
"If you are talking about an estate auction there wont be as many cars..."
It depends on what kind of auction you are talking about. If you are talking about an estate auction there wont be as many cars then you probably are not going to get a great deal. However if you are talking about the large dealer auctions with 100 or more vehicles you can buy MOST cars for average black book value or in other words wholesale price. But I will also tell you that Toyotas and Hondas tend to bring top dollar as they are the most in demand. There are repo sales at the dealer auctions where you can usually get very good buys. Once you go to auctions you will get the hang of it. My husband is a used car wholesaler and has his used car dealers license.
I got your email and I could not send reply back so here is my reply back to you
You are very welcome for my answer. My husband is actually a dealer in
Ohio, but he buys and sells a lot of vehicles through adesa auto
auction, the website for that is adesa.com. For more information on obtaining
your dealer license try this website
http://www.dmv.org/tx-texas/dealer-licensing.php
And if you have more questions contact your local department of motor
vehicles (where you get license plates) and tell them you are
interested in getting a dealer license and they can probably get you into
contact with someone at the state level who can be helpful to you! Good Luck!

 Q. Does anybody know how i can get license to buy cars from auction in texas? i want to get a license that i would be using to buy cars from dealers auction ground and websites.
"You need a lot with a sign and room to display cars..."
you need to get a dealer license. That means dealer surety bond, boackground check, dealer insurance, application, you need a lot with a sign and room to display cars. THEN you can apply.
But to be honest - if you dont know how to apply for a license, you are better off not getting into the business. ANyone who gets into the deaeler business needs to know the industry inside and out, or they will lose their shirt. Since you didnt know to check the most logical place - the DMV - for your license application, I doubt you are very knowledgable in the car business.
better to leave this until you get more experience in the car industry.

 Q. I am looking for a website that displays pics as well as prices to buy not auction cars from joplin, moimpound? i have tried and tried to find a website that didn't give me the run around and want me to register a bunch of crap just to send me to an auction site. i don't want to go through an auction process. i simply want to view what vehicles the joplin, mo police department has in its impound lot and the prices with a picture of the vehicles and then if i see something i like i would like to go wherever the lot is and simply buy a car with no bs involved. is there any website or phone number i could use to do this? or do they make it much more complicated than it has to be or should be?
"Impounded vehicles must be sold at auction..."
Call the Joplin PD. They'll tell you how the handle disposal of impounds. I don't think that they put the listings up on a website yet. Or watch the public notices section of the Joplin Globe for announcements of sales. If memory serves, Joplin auctions off excess property in early spring and that might include vehicles, both impounds and city vehicles.
For the most part, impounded vehicles must be sold at auction. The government is required to get as much as possible for the vehicles that they sell and auctions are a good way to prove that and the City of Joplin is the same as any other government entity in that respect.
There's a chance that they run them through the auction house on 32nd St as well. But check with the Joplin PD for full information.

 Q. What is the "typical" markup on cars that dealers buy at auction of off-lease late models? when the dealer buys cars at the local auction for late model vehicles just off lease are they then selling them on their lot at a 30% markup, 50% markup, 100% markup? i know it is different for different cars, but is there a good general rule of thumb?
"So lets say the dealer gets a 5 series bmw from an auction..."
Whatever the market will bear is what determines the price. So lets say the dealer gets a 5 series BMW from an auction. Lets also suppose that the age, milage and overall condition of the car makes it worth about $34,000 retail. He might have bought it at the auction for $18,000 or he very well could have bought it for $30,000. And then there could have been other costs associated with doing any repairs to the vehicle in order to make it road ready. Regardless of what happens on the back end, a $34,000 car will only get $34,000 in the market. So the markup is variable and not really a fixed ruel.
