Q. When will i get a speeding ticket?

YOU can get caught with the speeding ticket whenever you are moving more than the speed limit thats allowed on the road. whenever you drive fast then any patrolling officer can stop you and fine you with the speeding ticket and there is some fine that you have to pay. if you dont pay the fine in time then you can be sent to jail after the court summon. so dont drive fast to avoid all these problems.

Q. Speeding...?
i got a speeding ticket in south carolina and i live in pa, will the points for speeding affect my pa license?

The answer is probably not. With most states there isn't reciprocity for traffic infractions specifically. What normally happens is that the speeding ticket will stay on your "driving record" in the state that you got the ticket. It will stay on that state's driving record for whatever the prescribed time and then the points will be gone. (In NY it's 18-months). However, I do know that some states (New Jersey & Maryland come to mind) due issue violations against a person's license for failing to comply with another state's laws. Further, I think that only Florida will actually suspend your license if you're suspended in New York.

Q. Speeding..?
sitting on the side of the highway waiting to catch speeding drivers, a highway patrol officer sees a car puttering along at 22 mph. he thinks to himself, "this driver is just as dangerous as a speeder!". so pulls the driver over. approaching the car, he notices that in addition to the elderly lady driver, there are four other elderly ladies as passengers, . and all four passengers are wide-eyed and white as ghosts. the driver, confused, says, "officer, what seems to be the problem?i wasn't speeding." "ma'am," the officer replies, "you weren't speeding, but you should know that driving very slow can also be a danger to other drivers." the woman exclaims, "slower than the speed limit? i was doing the speed limit exactly! 22mph!" the officer explains to her that "22" was the route number, the woman thanked the officer for pointing out her error. the officer asks: " are the people in the car ok?" "oh, they'll all be all right officer, you see, we just passes route 119"

Q. Speeding??????????????????
just curious... how fast can you go over the speed limit without a cop coming after you??? just wondering. i do go the speed limit, but i'm just curious what people can get away with... thank you! well would an officer bother with a person going 1 mph over? and what if you were doing 5 over, but the person in the left lane was doing 7-10 over? would they look past you and go for them? thanks again!

it is officer discretion but speaking for my self if it is just speeding i will pull over if the vehicle is going five mph over the speed limit write a citation (ticket) if the speed is over 10 mph unless it is in a school zone then anyone going over 20 mph will be stopped and written a citation. but there are situations where the maximum speed limit is not safe to travel at and a police officer can write you a citation for speeding so its better to be safe than sorry.

Q. How much over the speed limit is considered a "major speeding" violation to insurance companies?
i've heard that if you receive a speeding ticket for 25 mph or more in excess of the posted speed limit that it is considered to be a "major speed" violation and that most insurance companies will cancel your policy if this happens. is there any truth to this?

A ticket for 25 MPH over the limit is considered RECKLESS DRIVING and it will cost you dearly for insurance from now on. Expect to pay exorbitant insurance rates for about 4 or 5 years.

Q. What are the benefits of speeding up and slowing down on a treadmill?
my treadmill has a program that starts you off slow at a speed of 1.6 for 2.5 minutes and then speeds you up to 2.8 for 2.5 minutes. there are 12 different levels in this particular program. each level will increase your speed but always has the same routine of speeding up and slowing down.

the reason you speed up and down is because the goal of cardiovascular exercise is to reach your peak heart rate (PHR) for a sustained period but then return to a "normal" heart rate. also, you will find that if you use your incline option, it will also give you a higher heart rate. to better utilize these options, try a workout where the level and/or speed doesnt change and the incorporate the varying speeds and levels throughout the week. hope this helps.

Q. How do i contest a speeding ticket in court?
i got a speeding ticket today, which is really depressing because generally i try really hard not to speed. i want to contest it in court, and i read that the first step is to request the officer's presence. how do i do this? i also read that the best way to get your ticket dismissed is to request documents of proof from the officer, because most likely he will not have them. what documents are these? any other tips to contest a speeding ticket? thanks!!!

You should demand a jury trial and file a Motion for Discovery with the Clerk of Court ... the prosecution will probably not comply, and you will have to demand a court hearing and convince the judge, as for: 1) the officer's logs (audio, video, and written), 2) copies of the citation (front and back), 3) the names of any witnesses (ie: who is the police officer), 4) all information relating to the officer's training, who trained him, when, 5) all information relating to maintenance logs of the radar device, 6) the serial numbers of any tuning forks used, and when the device was tuned, 7) how frequently does the officer engage in speeding citations (if this is routine for him, you can argue at court that he probably doesn't follow all the boring rules, such as properly tuning his device and making an estimate of your speed before letting the error-prone machine make its decision), 8) you have a right to demand that the DOT provide you with engineering assessments of the road's safe speeds, 9) if the speed limit is particularly low, you have a right to demand a reason why (they probably won't tell you, but demand it anyways and then tell the jury that they wouldn't tell you a reason), 10) you should demand a copy of the manual for the radar-gun, if they let you look at it demand it be brought to court or photocopy it (find relevant details and quiz the cop to show his ignorance, also make sure the jury realizies how big and complicated it is, thus showing how likely an error is -- if they don't let you see the manual, tell the jury how secretive they are and how they are obviously trying to hide the facts... and get a manual and bring it), 11) demand to know where the cop was when he radared you, and then go to that spot and try to find reasons why his radar might have made a mistake (maybe there was metal interference, maybe there was no realistic way for him to see you long enough to get a radar lock, maybe there were other cars in the way), 12) demand a copy of any department regulations regarding speeding citations (if there are any, find some way to argue that he didn't comply; if there aren't any, tell the jury how disorganized this whole process is), 13) ask the prosecution to tell you whether this was a speed trap (they will probably say of course not, but find out if it really is, and if it is tell the jury what a bunch of liars they are -- try to find witnesses who will testify for you that they too were caught in that ridiculous speed trap), 14) demand any and every possible written object you can find that might be at all relevant, it doesn't matter if your every request gets approved, the point is to swamp them with demands and irritate the prosecution while being polite and well-mannered while talking to the judge, act innocent and constantly say, "Your honor, I'm no lawyer so Im really not sure of my rights; all I know is that I wasn't speeding and the police are clearly abusing their power. I have a right to make a defense, and the constitutional right to due process gives me the right to demand any and all tangible items in the possession of the prosecution which may have bearing on the case, so that I might prepare a proper defense." In addition, in some jurisdictions there are NO additional costs for a trial, or even a jury trial -- furthermore, in some states (such as Texas), you have a clear right to argue that even if you were speeding, its still legal as long as you were driving safely. Meanwhile, in other states, you can still use an argument like that, because the jury knows full well that the cops are a bunch of obsessive-compulsive control-freak morons. Quite simply, you should fight every ticket, until the cops realize the public hates them. In addition, join the National Motorist Association, for $35 a year you get not only lots of information on how to fight your ticket, but in the future if you get one and fight it, they'll pay for the ticket even if you lose! http://www.motorists.org/

Q. Speeding ticket in ontario, how much will an increase be on my insurance per vehicle?
i have just gotten a speeding ticket in on my ontario driver's license. can anyone tell me a rough figure as for how much as an average i could be paying on extra insurance for my vehicle when it gets updated? and how long will these penalty premiums be in effect? thank you.

They company I work for will only run the MVR once. So there is a chance you will not see an increase. We do state in the policy that we can run the MVR at any time but the only time I have ever seen them run it again is if you have multi accident's or your account gets red flagged or if it lapses and you try to reinstate the policy. Ever company will have different procedures so I cant promise it wont go up but if they do run the MVR then you can expect a 10%-30%increase. Good Luck!

Q. How does a speeding ticket fine work in court?
so i have a mandatory appearance and i was wondering how that works out in court for speeding? do they give you options on how to pay? or do they talk to you and determine the amount and you have to pay right away? also, is there a difference between a bail and fine for a speeding ticket?

If the police officer who gave you the ticket doesn't show up then you're in luck. They do have options where you do not have to pay in full, just remember to ask them and tell them you cannot afford to pay all of it up front. A bail is where you are put in a holding cell and someone has to pay to get you out. A fine is just the amount of money you owe for the ticket and have to pay before a certain date.

Q. How do you fight a speeding ticket, when you know you were speeding?
do you have to plead not guilty? just got my second speeding ticket within a year, and afraid of all the points and insurance increases. do you have to say you weren't speeding? any suggestions? what does it mean to plead no contest, and what is likely to happen? by the way, i have been driving slower, but was having a bad day. thank you, adam. i am in nj, and i thought that was how it worked! most of the rest of you suck - i hope you make a mistake someday.

Like they say in prison, be 21 about it, you did it, admit it, then hopefully learn from your lessons.

Q. A speeding motorist passes a stopped police car. how fast is the speeding car going?
i need this explained to me, not just answered. a speeding motorist passes a stopped police car. at the moment the car passes, the police car starts from rest with a constant acceleration of 4.28 m/s2. the speeding motorist continues with constant velocity until caught by the police car14.8s later. how fast is the speeding car going? thank you, druisse! my main problem is really just.. understanding the problem! ha ha! your help is greatly appreciated. to the two who said he wasn't fast enough.. thank you, too! i thought it funny. (= the answer is apparently 31.7 m/s. why should it be divided by 2?

When the police car catches the speeding car they certainly do not have the same velocity. The police car catches up with the speeding car because it has a higher velocity than the speeding car. What is true is : They have covered the same distance, and/ or been travelling for the same time. What distance did the police go travel? s = ut + 0.5*a*t² s = 0 + 0.5*4.28*14.8² s = 468.75m The speeding car traveled 468.75m in 14.8 sec, Velocity of car = 468.75/14.8 = 31.68 m/s Answer: 31.7m/s
