Q. Scoliosis or heavy breast causing back pain?
i am 17 and i have the worst back pain everyday, usually if i stand or sit in the same position for a long time. i have severe scoliosis and had a spinal fusion 7 years ago. i also am a 34dd/ddd. i am 5'4" and wear a size 6 pants. is my back pain caused from my breast or scoliosis? do you think a breast reduction would help the pain?

"But your spine may be causing you problems elsewhere..."

Probably both. I too have scoliosis, but yours seems more severe than mine since I have never had any back surgery. I see a chiropractor and having adjustments helps my back a lot, so perhaps you should try something like this before considering surgery. My back pain is primarily in my lower back, but your spine may be causing you problems elsewhere. Basically there are a lot of things that can cause back pain, it is best to see a specialist like a chiropractor or general practitioner and get their opinion. Good luck and I hope you feel better, back pain is hard to deal with!

Q. What is causing pain in right breast when pressed ?
i have for some weeks now been feeling a pain in the bottom of my right breast near to my chest when i press on it, it feels sore, but does not cause me any discomfort. there is no lumps. what could it be as it is starting to worry me ? thanks !

"There are many possible causes of breast pain that are not cancer related (hence..."

There are many possible causes of breast pain that are not cancer related (hence, no lump). However, you should have a proper exam anyway, to rule out the possibility. The most common causes of breast pain include hormone fluctuation or imbalance, which can happen naturally as part of your cycle, or because of pills/medicine that include hormones (such as birth control pills). Your best bet is to talk to your doctor about it. Even if its nothing, they can suggest way to ease the discomfort. See below link for further information:

Q. Could coughing too much cause breast pain?
i've had a cold for a few days now and have been coughing a lot. it's been a consistent dry, hacking cough and i was wondering if this could be contributing to breast pain i am experiencing. i can't imagine anything else that would be causing it, so i'm kind of concerned.

"It could be that you have injured yourself from excessive coughing..."

It could be that you have injured yourself from excessive coughing, but i would recommend going to a doctor to get checked out.

Q. I know this is personal, but i need some answers before i approach my doctor. what causes breast pain?
my breasts have been increasingly paining for about two months now and i am not experiencing other symptoms(that may be related to pregnancy like breast tenderness) besides a little bloating. i was on depo for six months and came off it about 2 months ago. since then i have been having unprotected sex at times, however i took plan b after every occasion maybe 1-2wks at a time. is this causing the breast pain and nipple swelling since depo and ec(plan b) are both progesterones?

go to the doctor, you may be experiencing some major side effects from the two

Q. What could be causing the pain in my breast?
in my left breast there is a sharp pain that keeps coming back. i think it may be the lymph node, but i just don't know for sure. i compared the size and feel of both breast, but there doesn't seem to be any difference. i have heard that breast x-rays are painful so i want to be sure before i go to my doctor.

"Cancer is not the only reason for pain in your breasts..."

Cancer is not the only reason for pain in your breasts, although it needs to be eliminated as a possibility, certainly. That being said, avoid assuming that you have cancer, as the emotional impact of that belief has been shown to have a drastic effect on your health, especially if you believe that cancer is a hopeless disease. In many cases, it is not. If it is a lymph node, you will most likely be able to feel a swelling of the node that will feel like a pea under the skin or larger. It will move around somewhat when you give it some pressure side to side as well, indicating that this is or isn't something that is attached to your ribcage or embedded in muscle. A quick tip: stand in the shower and put shaving cream on your breasts when examining them for abnormalities. You will find much better sensitivity to what is under your skin. If you confirm a lymphatic swelling it should really be checked out by a physician, however there are other options than a standard mammogram to do so. Mammograms have been shown to cause tissue damage in some cases. If men had to do that with our testicles, you know we'd have found a better way by now. I personally feel it's vey important to choose the right person to do these procedures as well. Not everyone will treat your breasts like a slab of beef, and don't stand for it if they do. If you don't feel you are being treated with respect, do something about it. If your test shows negative for cancer, you will likely be told something like 'it's normal, many women have it'. Just because many women have it, does not make it normal. Find a massage therapist that performs lymphatic drainage and get a series of sessions. This isn't cheap, but neither is being sick. Clean up your diet. Stay away from microwaved foods, as these are essentially dead foods and don't strengthen your body. Only shop on the outside walls of your grocery, and eliminate processed and preserved foods as much as possible. Here is what may be the simplest solution for you to try. See a good chiropractor about it. That type of pain can also be the result of a subluxation in the thoracic section of your spine. I've actually dealt with a similar situation on a male client as well, and he suffered with pain for 3 years with no positive results from physicians. After one chiropractic treatment the pain disappeared, and after his session with me, it stayed that way. I hope this was helpful for you.

Q. What is causing non-cyclic breast pain?
my friend is 38 and has had breast pain on her left side for a few months. she had a mammogram which had normal results, and has no lumps, swelling, etc.... during her period, the pain goes away, but returns a week after her period stops. then she has the pain again until her period starts. i believe she takes a beta blocker for mitrovalve-prolapse and niacin for her trygicerides. what can be causing this pain?

"Noncyclic breast pain may also originate outside the breast — in the chest wall..."

Cyclic breast pain appears to have a strong hormonal association. The fact that cyclic breast pain often decreases or disappears with pregnancy or menopause lends support to the theory that hormones play a role in the discomfort. However, no studies have identified a particular hormonal abnormality as a contributor to cyclic breast pain. Noncyclic breast pain is only rarely associated with an underlying identifiable cause. The cause of noncyclic breast pain is more likely to be anatomical rather than hormonal, triggered by breast cysts, breast trauma, prior breast surgery or other factors localized to the breast. Noncyclic breast pain may also originate outside the breast — in the chest wall, muscles, joints or heart, for example — and radiate to the breast.

Q. What is causing this breast and nipple pain?
i have a pain in the side of my left breast and the nipple is very sensitive. the nipple hurts when touched or lightly squeezed. there is no discharge. my right breast hurts in the same way as well, but not as much. i had my period about a week ago. generally my breasts do get sensitive the week before my period, but i am not due and this pain is far greater than the soreness before my period. i also notice that my breasts appear very veiny. as far as i know, i am not pregnant.

It could just be growing up, your boobs might be developing better. i wish mine would! xx
