Mcafee and Norton are best antiviruses and top selling but if ur computer is running slow when u install them u have to get a free or a low budget program its not as good as these 2 but it will do the trick and these programs are alot and these are some of them :avast!, BitDefender, Panda, AVG . but if ur computer has high memory it is highly recommended that u download norton or Mcafee (I love norton,mcafee always say virus found and can't be deleted {both firewalls are gr8} )

avast are the best ones. Not avg, it has no root kit protection.
for a anti-virus try using avast, both free, for a anti-malware program use malwarebytes anti-malware, free also, a very good program that is light on the pc as well.

Q. Mcfee security center of norton internet security2008 which is better? i recently purchased a dell inspiron notebook. this came with a 30 free trial of mcafee during my purchase i also purchased noton internet security 2008 which i have yet to install and mcafee is asking if i would like to subscribe for up to 3 years. i just do not know which one is better.

AVG Anti-Virus is crap!
Mostly noobs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children use AVG Free. People of their ilk love AVG because they say it is easy to use and almost never bothers them with any pop-ups or warnings. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it hardly ever finds any virus to warn them about!

AVG has proven itself to be a miserable performer at best. Missing almost 20%, while trying to detect known malware, in some tests. Not to mention almost non-existent heuristic detection and infrequent "once-a day" updates.
AVG. = Average, at best!
There are much better free anti-virus alternatives such as Avria Anti-Vir:

Q. Which is better norton or mcfee antivirus?
Of only those two.... I would go with McAfee just because it has the smaller foot-print on your machine...(uses less memory and take less disk space)..
As for effectiveness.. according to the latest test results from AV Comparatives.org, they are pretty much the same in detection rates (although McAfee does have a slight edge in finding Trojans)...
I do not recommend either of the two (I use Antivir free) but if you choose to use either one, be assured, they will both work for the average user...(may slow down your machine, though)..

Q. Why did taylor hicks win? mcfee has a much better singing voice?
I couldn't agree more. I think Mcfee would have marketed better than hicks also. She has the Clarkston feel to her. All Hicks did was convulse and have seizures on the stage. He really creeped me out. Katherine is pretty hot too; but a good voice. I am sure you will see her name often in the music/movie industry.

my dad stuck it on my laptop...
and some ppl say its pretty good, but for me its bin H**L.. its horrible, its supposed to scan for you and get rid of the viruses but now its freezin up my comp at random-- i wouldnt recommend it... it does nothing for me

Q. What is the better virus protection? hello i was just wondering which anti-virus, anti-spyware i should buy. avg anti-virus & anti-spyware, norton or mcfee. i tried the free downloads but i would rather have the disk to get rid of any and all viruses.
I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, I have recently added superantispyware and Malwarebytes. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just upgraded to AVG free 8.0 and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps
