It is so because sometimes it is because of some problem in heart which is positioned just below the left breast, hence, the pain is actually because of some problem in heart and hence self diagnosys could be faulty. This could be a strained (pulled pectoral muscle) but you should have your breast examined by an MD., to be sure. Do you know how to self examine your breasts? This should be done each month in a prone position. So, ask the doctor to demonstrate this self exam when you see him/her.

You can have a pinched nerve in your back. When in the rib cage area a pinched nerve refers the pain forward so you can end up feeling it in your breast and the bone. If you have been having panic attach's there has also been a link to pinched muscles/nerves in your back. You begin to wait for the pain to get worse as a movement of your body can make it or you wait for the pain to just go away which it never does. Here is how to release your back muscles to get rid of the pains: Back: (do from a sitting position) Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but remain there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.

Hiya, I'd advise you get it checked out. My mum found a lump on her breast, which didn't hurt and was diagnosed with breast cancer. She's had treatment, still having radiotherapy and on her way to perfect again, but things could have been SO much worse if she'd have not booked that doctors appointment. Good luck.
