It's not the car that has the high insurance, it's YOU. As long as you are under 25 yrs old, you're gonna pay through the nose for car insurance, no matter what you drive. (it's been that way since the 60's...more cars with teenagers, having more accidents...) If you can get away with less than $5000. a yr you're doing good. You can lower it by being on your folks insurance (if they let you...) They don't care much about driving school anymore. (or good grades, all that stuff went by the wayside a few yrs ago..) Just be careful, stay out of trouble and drive like you WANT to stay alive and by the time you're 25, your insurance WILL go down.

If you are male, 18 to 25, you will pay much more than an older person will. If you are trying to insure a high risk vehicle, ie high performance vehicle, then the rate just doubled. The majority of insurance companies view this age group (and in particular males) as high risk customers and you pay accordingly. I would be negligent if I tried to quote you rates for coverage with the little amount of information you have provided. A lot of factors go into determining your insurance rate, not just your age. Since you didn't say where in British Columbia you lived it's difficult to give you an exact figure, however assuming you are at the base rate with ICBC (no discount and no surcharge), you will be using the vehicle to drive to work/school less than 15 Km's one way, and for $1 million liability collision and comprehensive coverage at a $300 deductible will be $1,843/year in Vancouver and $1,175/year in Victoria. In addition there would be registration fees, transfer of ownership fees and new plate fees totaling $99.
